15 Things That Amish Women Do Not Want You To Know
There are a lot of things worth knowing about the Amish and lots of things the Amish do not want us to know about them. There are also lots of provable facts about the Amish out there, as well as many entertaining stories about them worth cackling over that bear as much resemblance to the truth as a lemon does to an Idaho potato!

In this video, we will focus on some 15 things about Amish women that aren’t as publicized as they should be. Moreover, these 15 facts relate to stuff that Amish women aren’t exactly eager for the public to know.

Sounds like a bunch of men got together and made these rules. Let one of them have a baby and not make noise.

Wow where do I start?? This video has it about 50% right but definitely definitely more actual research and facts need to be gathered!! You see, I am a 35 year old ex Amish woman with a husband and 7 children!! You were right for the most part about big families!! But I was Amish for 34 years and know hardly anyone who gave birth at home and most certainly not me!! I gave birth 7 times and always in a regular hospital and with epidural n any pain medication available!! In fact home births were highly uncommon n only happened if the mom didn't make it to the hospital fast enough!! Also I did take birth control between a couple of my kids...that is usually up to each individual but it's not something that most would go blabbing about. As far as the wedding dress goes yes they are mostly blue and homemade, though not always made by the bride herself...my mother in law made mine. And I've never heard anything about having to wear your wedding dress to church and to get buried in. You were allowed to wear it to church but it was by far not required and we all had lots of dresses in different colors that we wore...we had to be buried in a black dress with white cape and apron and head covering...that's how it was always done...sometimes babies or really young children were buried in a white gown...also the "running around" thing we did wasn't set for any specific length of time and started at 16-17 years of age...then it was up to each individual when they would settle down...and It also isn't required that women walk behind her husband...and i know lots n lots of women that drive horse n buggies they are actually encouraged to drive so they drive less with a taxi driver...there is no such rule...another thing is that my dad loves to cook and bake he taught me just about everything i know about it and to this day I'll ask him for cooking advice before I'll ask my mom cuz he does all the cooking!! Yes we are a little more submissive for the most part but we were valued n respected n well cared for!! It really wasn't how this video makes it seem!! Like it was a bad thing or like we had no rights or freedom...that being said there is sadly some truth to what you've shared...that's a big reason why we left...it's way to long a story. N way to much to share here but I hope this helps to clear a bit of this up...I really could go on n on but this'll just have to do for now!! 🥰🥰😁😁

I'm not Mennonite or Amish but it get the feeling there is a lot of ignorance on the part of the video creator, and abuse of children, women, and some men, runs rampant across our entire society, not just in these communities. Video creator needs to do better research...

"Moms are expected to cook and clean" not only an Amish thing lmao

I hate the pressure of child bearing being on the Amish woman when it is highly possible that her husband is infertile. She's being shamed for something that isn't even her doing

Big respect to Amish women. They're intelligent, hardworking people. I personally couldn't be as submissive.
I pray the silence around abuse these women face continue to be investigated and spoken about.

This makes me feel really grateful I am not Amish.

People who grow up on farms don’t need to have a sex talk. They see the whole cycle in their farm animals from early childhood.

I sat on a jury once for a case of child abuse, molestation, and incest running rampant in a local Amish community. Obviously these issues span the entire population, Amish or not. I was just shocked to learn the details of how vulnerable women and children are in the Amish community because of how separate and secluded it is from the outside world. It’s like, idk, censorship to the extreme. It’s just my opinion, but I feel like the Amish community greatly resembles a cult. I fully believe that one can live their life in a way that takes everything one might like or love about the Amish lifestyle, and do so completely independent and free of the structural system that puts men in charge and women and children completely powerless and vulnerable. Like, you don’t need to live in Amish compound to enjoy a simple life, a modest life, or to have a relationship with God. Again just my opinion.

With respect, 1. Some of these things are no longer true, different orders have different rules. 2. The ones that are true are well known and 3. The Amish do not care what the English (the outside world) thinks or any of their culture. Seriously, they do not care about opinions of people outside their community.

The best way to enslave someone is to convince them they aren't slaves. 😔

They should really overturn that “no high school education for women” in court. That sounds like it should already be illegal and should be up to the young woman because it limits her options if she did want to leave the community as an adult.

I've had a heart attack (12/22/14) and I've given birth with no epidural.
Giving birth is 100 times more painful than having a heart attack. I can't imagine doing it silently.

I so appreciate the Amish of NYS. I was a Tupperware consultant and the women always arrived for an outdoor sale. They were wise shoppers and I praised their husbands for trusting their skills. Seeing their horse drawn buggies in the Finger Lakes region is always a pleasure. Please share the roads safely.

I went to a Mennonite church for many years wore a head covering and plain clothes. I really loved their way of life and they were the kindest people I know. They opened their homes to my family and the men treated their wives with so much love. I didn’t see anything wrong with their life style or beliefs.

It seems to be much harder for the Amish women than the men. I’ve never given birth but I couldn’t imagine doing it at home with absolutely no kind of pain relief. Much respect to these strong woman❤️

Now let's talk about all the animal cruelty, abuse of animals and overbreeding. They have no shame and their treatment of animals is disgusting. They are in no way God fearing because if they were they would not treat his creatures this way. It's heartbreaking.
