David Sinclair VS Brad Stanfield on RESVERATROL | Studies Clarified

There is so much controversy about conflicting studies about which supplement to take to live longer.

One such supplement is resveratrol.

Dr. Brad Stanfield published a video called "Why I stopped taking resveratrol" mentioning a few studies and papers that disprove the value of resveratrol.

Dr. David Sinclair has been researching and endorsing resveratrol his entire life.

On his Twitter account, Sinclair commented on Stanfield’s video, denouncing it in a very negative way.

On its face value, there is no reason not to go with Sinclair's take on resveratrol. The guy has been studying it for over 2 decades

But what is even more confusing since the studies and papers Stanfield mentioned seem legit:

• Resveratrol hurts exercise benefits

• paper claiming sirtuin activity, the target of resveratrol, may not affect aging

• and crisper technology, supposedly the best of the best technology we have, showing resveratrol doesn’t activate sirtuins.

this seems all confusing. Is David Sinclair wrong?

If you’re taking resveratrol, are you making a mistake?

Are you aging like the rest of the population?

Here's my take.

Could you clarify the significant cholesterol increase with resveratrol? It was one of the main points Dr. Brad mentioned in his "Why I stopped taking them" video (7min.40secs.) and I did not find you mentioned that *No beneficial effects of resveratrol on metabolic syndrome* study in your video.
Thanks for your efforts, but for further reviews of others reports, please go through all the referenced studies...

I have seen numerous videos about anti aging. I have seen interviews, read articles, just name it.
You are the best by far, in my opinion I will keep watching!

I take resveratrol every day and exercise every day, including intense exercise roughly every other day, and I haven't noticed any issues with being able to exercise or recover. If anything, I am in excellent shape and have only gotten better lately. I think I'll just keep taking it daily.

1:06 "On its face value there is no reason to go against Sinclairs take on Resveratrol" ... The skeptic in me can think of 720 million reasons for him not to change his take in the face of new evidence.

I saw your comment below about whether NMN should also be cycled and was wondering what you would think about taking astaxanthin every day. I take it for my skin but maybe shouldnt everyday? I take it to help protect against UV rays.

How come Dr. Sinclair gets nervous when confronted about this. He looks down and away and say’s “It’s confusing” …. What do you mean by saying “Dr. Brad isn’t a researcher” when all he’s doing is clearly explaining what went wrong with David Sinclair’s research, the mistakes he made and the inaccurate conclusions he drew, and presents the evidence contradicting Sinclair’s claims! Why won’t David Sinclair accept Dr. Brad’s invitation to defend his work?!

I’d like to know the truth about Resveratrol: is it good for you or is it potentially dangerous? Why did I have a very obvious, repeatable result from taking resveratrol?… I never expected any visible results from taking it but I began to see that it was indeed responsible for increased endurance in a strenuous “ yoga with weights” class during which we increased heart rate and worked our muscles to their limit. I tested it over and over again. I stopped taking resveratrol because of the negativity around it, but I also had to stop taking the class!

I’ve been taking daily but I also run long distances 4-5 days a week. And I’ve been noticing my VO2 max has been declining and I’m not recovering well. Definitely going to take a break for a week now then taking every other day

In my opinion, Dr Brad Stanfield is not misinterpreting the studies, instead he is interpreting to suit his agenda which is to go against the hype in order to acquire followers as the opposite, positive and obvious opinions are already saturated with many Doctors and researchers. Conclusion, Dr Stanfield’s interpretation is a marketing strategy.

In which university or institution does Rimon Lumen do his research? I couldn't find much information about his background.

Stanfield for all his emphasis on methodology and rigorous/accurate interpretation of data, all too often selectively cherrypicks research just for the sake of being contrarian.
His assertion that it is not even clear that activating sirtuins is an anti-aging mechanism based on 1 sirt-2 study is downright ridiculous.
To make such a statement while omitting literal piles of research estabilishing the crucial role of sirtuins (and specifically sirt-1) in aging of various tissues from bones to ovaries, is either ignorant (again, Stanfield is MD, not a real researcher) or malicious.
He has proven himself to be a somewhat sleazy opportunist and considering his considerable lack of expertise or even academic merit, his public persona is all the more inapproperiate.

Thank you for your explanation. I will change my routine and take Resveratrol on alternate days. Question: would it increase efficacy if taken at night with fat (dinner) rather than in the morning?
