In the LN, GS didn’t even want to get promoted but the guild insisted and they had to test his skills at hunting and killing FILTHY that he was promoted even before they got back to the guild. On a side note, the examiner was a former adventurer and GS reignited her passion for adventuring. Btw, I’m a big fan of your work Grim Jack. Yes, you have government people who watch your series for enterntainment and not for surveillance.

Funny thing is what Goblin Slayer said is true. He didn't care for promotions or rank, only killing goblins. He actually had to have someone shadow him to see if he was worth his second promotion
