The Most Inbred People In History

Carrying a defective gene doesn't always mean death for most people. Their children might be in danger only if they get together with someone else who carries the same piece of genetic code. It is possible for them to get both recessive copies and a recessive disease. Because our gene pool is pretty big and varied, those things don't happen very often. But if someone can only choose a partner from their own family, that chance can start to rise rapidly as generations pass down genetic material that is identical or very similar. This is called homozygosity.

Through history, all of this means that a small group of people have become very closely related. Some people got lucky and didn't have to deal with the worst effects of their complicated family tree, while others are painful examples of why inbreeding is often seen as wrong.

I can tell you as a person who has unfortunate medical conditions because of having inbreeding my family past it’s very difficult and painful for me. I was born in Moscow Russia and I am a descendent Russian royal family and I was born with a lot of medical issues. I have a unique jaw structure, cruzon syndrome, hydrocephalus, and I am on the high functioning autism spectrum. I also have eyes that collect too much tissue in them naturally. I also had seizures and 26 major surgeries to help correct and at least treat my chronic conditions. I am currently 29 years old and greatfull to be alive. But I can tell you from experience don’t inbreed.

I'm sure that Peter Dinklage really appreciated you showing a picture of him when discussing deformities. lol 😆

Queen Victoria also was the grandmother of the rulers of most of the countries that fought each other in WWI. Millions died because of that family.

The story of King Ludwig II of Bavaria is much more complex than the one you told, his younger brother Otto spent most of his adult life isolated or institutionalized due to mental illness, mostly traumatized by a brutal war. When Ludwig was declared mad, the doctors used is handwriting that had deteriorated since his youth, none of them even met him EVER in person. He was found dead with his doctor, both drowned in 2 to 3 feet of water, if that doesn't sound as an assassination I don't know what will. His cousin and uncle wanted him off the throne because Ludwig didn't want to rule, he was attracted to men and wasn't going to procreate, he was spending an insane amount of money (providing work for 100's of people) for the building of his dream castles. Which today his the most visited attractions in Bavaria if not in Germany, turns out he nearly bankrupt his kingdom but years later proved to be a great investment! Ludwig was a hopeless romantic and was making his dreams come true, that was his crime.

“…which made his condition more worse”.
WHAT??? I understand that genetics cause a great deal of birth anomalies: but bad grammar, as well?

I'm so glad modern science has given us this important knowledge. So much suffering 😞

In India, cousins often marry. I worked with someone that had a heart defect because of this.

I did graduate study in molecular genetics. Many people are carrying obscure mutations that will only be expressed as disease if they are unfortunate enough to marry or breed with a person carrying the same mutation. Most times these traits are not passed on but inbreeding increases chances of a full blown genetic mutation getting fully established.

Inbreading nasty one reason you don’t go with your brothers, sister’s, first cousins, second cousins, mother or father.
This is all sick stuff I would never let my daughter marry her first cousins crazy, I know of people whom do this .

It makes me sad that money causes things like this. Royalty is stupid, we are all human and all the same.

“This made his condition MORE WORSE”
Does anyone involved in this production have a passing grade at High School graduation standard? The word; ‘MORE’ is redundant, as the word; ‘Worse’ already means ‘more’.

In the section on Charles II of Spain, there is one painting that is actually Charles II of England.

As an indication of how smart animals are, the job of the silverback gorilla is to make sure the males do not impregnate their sisters. Once the males become sexually active, the silverback runs them off. They go on to form groups of their own.

Maria Theresia of Austria (1717-80) is NOT the grandmother of Charles II of Spain (1661-1700). His grandmother/aunt is Maria Anna of Spain (1606-46).

Everyone blames inbreeding for the bad effects of hemophilia. The truth is that outbreeding can not stop it because it is sex linked, not recessive.
