Caviar is a food consisting of salt-cured roe of the family Acipenseridae. Caviar is considered a delicacy and is eaten as a garnish or a spread. Traditionally, the term caviar refers only to roe from wild sturgeon in the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea.

The cost actually has nothing to do with the taste. Almost 30 years ago that same tin of caviar would have cost you maybe $100 or even less. The problem is the sturgeon where caviar comes from is only found in a couple bodies of water across the world. Most of them have been completely fished out and the last one in Russia is almost completely fished out as of right now. I think it's the Caspian sea.

If you want to try caviar there are environmentally friendly types of caviar. One comes out of France that I heard is quite exquisite and tastes exactly like the real thing.

A sturgeon has to grow for almost 20 years to be able to produce eggs. So whenever you're eating those pearls they were something a fish worked on for basically as long as most of us have been alive.

I just bought a little jar of caviar to try with my family around the holidays. When I was young, I wanted to try caviar so bad and one time my very hard-working lumber mill form and father came home with a jar of caviar just for me. I was thrilled! Then he said "well aren't you going to share it?" My mother and brother were Rarely nice to me and often mean to me then, i was quiet and kept to myself, so I looked at him and said no I was going to put it on my shelf and look at it ( it was a gift for me, yes?) So, thats what i did. i cherished that something he thought was wasteful and frivilous, being such a moutain man, he would actually get for me because he loved me. He was the most thoughtful 🥰.
It's okay though we can split this jar of caviar I bought now. No this wasnt $200😂 it was $8.
