It’s meant for women 50+...but as a 18-year-old girl who just figured out that she wanted to start dressing for her body type (not just for comfort and convenience), this video was so helpful!

One thing we need to remember about Marilyn Monroe: she was 5'5" tall and 118 lbs. When they took her white dress from The Seven Year Itch and put it on a size 2 mannequin, it wouldn't zip up. Today's size 8 is about a size 16/18 from the 50's, (there is a significant difference because of the vanity sizing we have today). Some years ago, I bought a pattern to sew a dress for my daughter who was a size 2, and her measurements required me to buy her a size 12 dress pattern. Marilyn had a perfect perfect Hourglass figure, but she wasnt a size 16, as we define it today. Sorry, the seamstress in me just popped out, lol! Anyway, cant wait to hear this video!! Here I go...

How very useful. It turns out my husband had it all figured out. " that needs a belt, it looks better when your clothes are fitted", he says. Pretty good for a geologist who only wears jeans!

What sucks about having an hour glass figure and putting on a fitted dress without zippers is that its so hard to get the smaller waist part over the shoulders or hips. Im always worried that ill rip the seams when i put on dresses if its not strechy.

You are so spot on with the challenges of finding clothes for the hourglass figure. It's so frustrating that so many retailers cater to straight, small chested figures.
Thank you for pointing out the details to watch for. Very helpful!

I love that you take the time to detail what looks right and wrong, especially using your red pen too! I'm currently revamping my wardrobe and this video is soooo helpful, thank you!

I just came across this video this afternoon. And, WOW!! This has so much excellent information on how to dress the hourglass body shape. It's hard to imagine, but I only recently discovered that I'm an hourglass and NOT a straight body type. My mind was quite blown at that moment. I couldn't, at first, figure out how on earth that I didn't know I WAS AN HOURGLASS. I began thinking back to my teen years in the early 1970's and realized that "fashion" emphasized the tall straight figure. The advice was always to dress to look tall, thin and straight. I've spent so many years dressing to look tall, thin and straight that I literally had no idea what my body shape was. Several weeks ago my body shape was revealed through very reliable sources. Now, I know why I was feeling so "squarish" (instead of slim) and thought that nothing fit me right or seemed the right styles. I went through all my clothes, tried them on and got rid of clothing definitely not for my body type. For the first time in years, I'm loving how I look and loving my clothes!

Levi 721- high rise skinny jeans. read somewhere it was the best for a women’s figure. They were right. I now have dark blue and have ordered black.

I'm 33 years old and found this video very informative. I have an hourglass shape and realize my wardrobe has been making me look like a square.... No v-neck, no high waisted jeans, and no focus of my waist 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ The drawing demonstrations on the models really gave a powerful visual ❤

I sincerely appreciate your use of WOC and larger sized models in your examples. I also found the comparison photos of T-shaped models with photos hourglass curves. With age, I have learned to spot the signs an outfit that looks great on a model will not work for me but, these might save others the trouble of learning only via trial and error.

Wow! I've always gravitated towards wrap around and waist cuts and now I know why. This was the clearest and simplest to remember explanation of what to look for for an hourglass figure, that I've ever seen. I'm not in your targetted age range but I'm so glad I watched this video.

Thank you so much, Schellea! I not only love the way you explain how and why certain clothes work -or not- for us hourglass women, but the way you do it, it is so inspiring. I wish we had such wonderful, warm and lovely "YouTubers" when I was younger. We would all embrace and love our beautiful bodies from an early age :)
