BG2 has a pretty good illithid/gith section in the Underdark portion if you ever get a hankering to play that game. It's an oldie but a goodie.

Hey... great lore video!... since i love dwarfs... i will add an extra bit of lore... the Duergar where once a proud Dwarven clan that was slaved by the Ilithid and brought down to the underground. After some time they were able to revel against the ilithid and destroy a big chunk of their colonies in the underground (very much like that Gith)
PS: if you want to have some nightmares. you can look for elder brain dragon

Soo after a transformation, I keep hearing tales of concern.

1: The process destroys the soul of the host, this true?

2: Is it a merge, or does the squid think it's the same person?

BG3 leaves me so confused ...

What I find funny is in 5E, which BG3 is running, Mind Flayers aren't THAT strong, lol. They have a CR of 7, which is stronger than most starting groups, but much weaker than you'd think. Beholders and Rhakasha are both almost twice as strong with CR13, and even Blue Salads (the 2nd weakest of the Saladi after Red) tie them with CR7.

When i first saw the Mind flayer when i started playing the game i was like: "is that a Chuthulu?? Holy crap we have a Chuthulu in D&D!!" Lol
