Would personally use a handsaw for the straight portion but the fact you cut it that straight with a coping saw is impressive

I have the same saw. Ever tried flipping the blade and cutting with the handle down? I find it makes a smoother cut, and you can get your face closer to the work for better vision. Also makes it easier to blow any dust off the workpiece

A good quality coping saw is essential. I had a cheap one and it was terrible, it twisted and turned. I thought I was just not good with that tool. But then decided I'd get higher quality coping saw and it made all the difference.

You could have back cut the long part of the profile and saved a lot of time with your miter saw

A slight taper when using a coping saw will save you headaches. Never cut at 45 degrees. 👍

I think I used the saw a 2nd time to cut a 45 degree on the bottom fat side, and the coping saw just for the top section off, or at least I could have sworn that’s what I was taught over a decade ago when I was a carpenter helper, but apparently my group was doing it differently than most based on this and another video I saw earlier 🧐🥴

You didn’t backspace it at all though so it’s nothing to look as clean as it could.

Have thought of getting the router profile for u bases and just use that to do the cope ?

Why not just cut both sides on a 45 degree angel ?

Or you could cut 2 - 45's on a chop saw.

So the 45 deg cut is pointless? Just seems like an extra step, to then just cut it straight again 🤷‍♂️
