Haha, good, Denuvo gets what it deserves. Never should’ve been invented and then FORCED on games.

“Companies that don’t remove it”
Frontier, cause they still have it on Planet Coaster and Jurassic World Evolution…

Nintendo got it wrong, too. Downloading a ROM isn't necessarily illegal. Here, in Spain, we have the "right to backup copies, in any format, even if the format is different than the original". That means I can have a tape recording of a CD I legally purchased, a photocopy of a book I legally purchased... OR a ROM of a game I legally own. According to our laws, the illegal part is the distribution of copyrighted materials, and profiting from it, not the use of said "pirated material". As such, reproduction cartridges for the DS/3DS were openly announced by police stations, since owning one of those CAN be legal, as long as you just fill it with ROMs of games you own, and just use it to not have to carry 50 games.

Same applies to PC. I can download a ROM of a console game I own, and it'd be perfectly legal. It's just a backup copy. So, in that sense, NO, piracy isn't inherently illegal. I CAN get my own games, legally, pirate them, and store them on a private cloud, to download at a later date if, for instance, Steam decides to stop allowing you to get the game. OR, to play a SNES game on an emulator on my smartphone, since, as I said, the backup copy CAN be in a different format.

And if they appeal to morality: WHY should I lose access to a product I own just because they no longer offer repair pieces for their product? Say I want to play a SNES game AND I paid for the game already. WHY would be immoral to pay for something I paid? What's immoral is them wanting us to pay multiple times for the SAME exact product.

The argument they offered of "The IPs get games on newer systems" is also very fallacious. I don't WANT a switch. I want to play the original version of the game... that I already own, mind you. So, why would I need to pay AGAIN for the game, AND for a new console? That's immoral.

"Putting exclusives on PC does nothing for PS5 owners." If the PC sales up the total sale amount for the game enough (or help to show that there is still enough interest in said game) that it gets a new game, that will be a game on the PS5 or 6 or whatever that otherwise wouldn't have existed. That's just one thing I can think of in 5 seconds.

I remember when pretty much all the really big deal releases got released on PC first and the console ports made it to store shelves a few months later.

Nintendo is the worst at understanding why gamers use emulators for their older titles.

And they'll likely never learn anything from their community here.

I'm as diehard a Nintendo fan as they come, and they can suck it with their stance on emulators and roms. They could just sell a collection of their classic games on new consoles, but they rather use them as bait for their subscription service. Fuck that noise.

Nintendo was actually caught using code from an emulator themselves. Should they sue themselves for that? Ofc not. But that's not my entire point.

I seriously pity those who mistake legality for morality.

Nintendo can honestly go kiss a peach. If they don't want their games preserved then why the hell even bother being fans?

If the game isn't in circulation anymore and we have no other way to play it then I would rather emulate it rather than wait on them to finally come out with it when does it feel like only to chargers for product that they can eventually take away on a whim.

And let's not forget the possibility of any unnecessary alterations to these games since all companies seem to be hell bent on doing just that.

Higher end graphics card may be overkill, but at least it can go a while without needing to be replaced.

Brothers: A tale of Two Sons? You use the Analog sticks to control each brother?

Huh... that reminds me of the old PS2 game, Cookie and Cream. Two bunny you control with the left stick for Cookie the pink bunny and the right stick for Cream the yellow bunny as you navigate through levels to reach the end. Forgot what the goal or story was. Nice to see this gameplay style is around still.

I just love "The Philosopher's Ston".

Wasn't that Spock's rival in "Amok Time"?

Isn't that intellectual property faq three years old or was that the anti piracy one? Because I'm pretty sure that they posted the same thing on their Australia page years ago. I could be wrong though but is there two now?
