She finally shows the shoes at 20:55 and is in them at 29:35 . You’re welcome.

Thank you for your outro warning people not to go up on pointe in demi-pointe shoes.

Yes. You are right. It is possible to roll up to a pointe position where your weight is on the tip of your toes when you are wearing demi-pointe shoes. Anybody would be able to do wearing any demi-pointe shoe.

However, if you’re doing anything more than roll throughs in those demi-pointe shoes, you’re gonna hurt yourself. Even with the most simple movements like pas de bourres, or coupes, or couru, your ankles will likely give way.

Please be a good role model and do not misuse your shoes. Pointe work is serious business. Because of social media, there’s already far too many people buying pointe shoes off the Internet and just trying to do it on their own at home and injuring themselves. Not to mention, they’re not helping their ballet studies.

It’s hard to go slow to learn ballet. Even as an adult, it takes a couple years to get your muscles strong enough to go on pointe. In order to build up the right muscles in your metatarsals, ankles, legs, your inner thighs, your hips… It all plays a part in properly getting yourself up on your toes in a pointe shoe. I can tell by the way you’re using your muscles in your legs that you’re there yet.

Stay off the tips of your toes.

Stunning! I'm also on a pre-pointe journey, returning back to ballet after 10 years. If you have convertible tights, I like to put my ouch pouch on my bare foot and then wrap my tights around it. Feels like it's more secure to my foot. :)

Pre-Pointe Dancers-

Please talk to your teacher before you go up on pointe in demi-pointe shoes at a barre or chair, in class or at home.

Demi-pointe shoes ARE NOT BUILT TO HOLD YOUR FEET AND ANKLES WHILE YOU GO UP ON YOUR TOES.

(She was given advice to go on her toes by her “shoe fitter”….not her teacher, by the way…. ALWAYS TALK TO YOUR BALLET TEACHER!)

MAYBE this young woman was given advice by a fitter to go up on pointe in her demi shoes because she has such strong ankles from skating. The shoes are not made to support the human body weight on the ankles and toes. Yes, they have a hard toe-box. But these shoes are just made for practicing flat-footed at the barre!

FOR YOU- as a beginner who is learning pre-pointe, you must not go up on your toes in demi-pointe shoes. You can really injure yourself ….and then your ballet career could be over before it even starts.

As a dancer, I am confused on why she is wearing dress tights in the video and not dance tights. You think other dancers would not notice?

You‘re doing so great for just starting ballet, but here are a few tips from a dancer of 10 years:
In your tendus, try to articulate your feet. This means to go through every single position from flat to point, so make sure you go through the balls of your feet and every single toe until you’re in a full point.
Keep your upper body straight in your plies. You tend to slightly lean in your plies which isn’t terrible, but try to think there is a string from your belly button through your head that is pulling up. You should be using your core to keep you up.
This isn’t something you NEED to work on, but if you want to have pretty point once you get up on pointe shoes, make sure to continue working on your ankle and calf strength. Definitely keep using therabands and doing eleves and releves, but also make sure to point your toes as hard as you can, and you can stretch them by putting the top of your foot on the ground and putting some pressure on your toes to work on your arches.
Also in your plies, try to go lower, you don’t have to stop moving in your demis just because you feel like it’s not a demi anymore. The only time you shouldn’t go too low is in second, I would say only go down to where your hips are on line with your knees. NEVER STOP MOVING. If you want to have nice performance etiquette, make sure you complete all your movements and stay in line with your musicality.
You are rocking this and listen to your body, you are doing great!

A new swimmer does not high dive off of a dive tower. There seems to be a vanity pointe shoes trend with wanna-be "ballerinas". I encourage anyone to study ballet, it is a wonderful sport but this woman does not look strong enough or have enough years of BALLET training to even attempt pointe shoes . Soot but the weak technique really shows. My teacher and all teachers should never let a student even try on pointe shoes until after at least of 5 years of training. And only if the ankles are strong enough to avoid serious injury. Study, put in the hours and the years to stay safe. Please everyone do not even attempt pointe for fashion it is not worth the injury.

I am sorry you've had so many challenges with figure skating. I was shocked to hear how much more they are pricing the sessions! I remember you looked at several rinks, can you switch to another one?
I hope you don't get too discouraged and keep following this passion, I think these things are part of the journey and help us grow as athletes. Good luck💓

I did ballet as a kid and did pointe back then as well, and returned to ballet last year as well as pointe, and I started ice skating too. I am a beginner but some ballet skills I have learned since a kid help me in ice skating.

Adult figure skater here, and ballet is definitely a very good compliment to figure skating! I only took one class (a very beginner one) the summer of 2023, and I definitely felt like it helped with my skating. What things are you working on in your skating?

I’m always surprised when I see demi pointe shoes because I’ve never heard of them in my country, I got directly from flat to pointe shoes… I don’t really see the point it’s just pushing people to try pointe without the proper training

If sharpening isn't helping you skate it sounds like something is lacking with boot support. Maybe blades too. There are many styles and its normal for adult skaters to outgrow their figure skates quickly. Go to a great skating shop like you did with ballet and get their opinion! And sounds like a different coach. Can you try a different more laid back rink?

I have those green trash bag pants but in black and they looks so cute on you! I don't think they look that good on me but maybe its just because they are black and idk how to style them😅
