Setting Up Swarm Traps for Free Bees

Using Swarm Traps is a great way to get free bees. Not only are they free, but feral bees tend to be more resilient against varroa mites, pests and other diseases. This is also a great way to get started bee keeping while keeping the expense to a minimum.

This is very interesting! Probably why I have so many bee lovers in my queue. Lol! I'm a new friend!

This video was very informative! I found the lemongrass thing interesting, is there more that we need to know about bees? My mom and I are planning to add bees to our homestead but we cerainly do not want to be unprepared! Also, tarping the trap was a very creative idea and I didn't know that torching wood made it more waterproof!

I hear what your sayin, but I got my objections.
Those fiber pots are nice and all(nice and expensive) but I use a ten frame deep box with a landing board, an inner cover, a telescoping lid and ten frames with as many as possible with old comb and I just put it in my yard (opposite on my property from my existing hives) in shade. Even set it up in my shed once. I get swarms. I don't even leave my yard.
Hint I emulsify Lemon grass in water and I spray the plants and ground around my box.
I also put a sugar feeder close to the entrance of the hive. I try to attract as much attention to the hive as humanly possible. The more bees the better.
I know your way works but you have to do a cutout on a fresh swarm, I do not. Mine are already boxed.
