How to set up a swarm trap for honey bees
In this video I show you how to set up a swarm trap to catch honey bees. If you are an apiarist (bee keeper) or are looking to become one, you will soon find out its not exactly a cheap hobby/ career. The majority of the cost is the equipment, although the cost of bees seem to go up every year. so if your new to this and are looking to expand your bee yard or just need to make up for last years losses then catching swarms is a great way to do so. It not only helps you cut down on the cost of bees, its also really fun. It reminds me of fishing, you put up your box and wait to see what you catch. Its always a great feeling when you go to check on your swarm trap and find bees flying in and out of it. The method we use requires an old bee box (or you can use a new one) some 14 gauge wire a few wood screws and some rope. Its really quite simple. just follow the instructions in the video and you will be catching swarms pretty quick. later I will make video showing how we build our new design for swarm traps and ill also make a video of us taking it down soon so your not just stuck guessing lol.
