I agree, most wealthy people don't want it to be known they are wealthy due to security and other social reasons.

I told myself that when I reach a certain amount of liquid net worth I would buy a Rolex. Now that I have achieved that level I would rather use that money to buy more stocks.

Another important thing he said (paraphrasing a bit) is not to advertise your wealth.

My wife and I have followed the rule that we never discuss our financial situation with anyone who doesn’t need to know about it. If other people know you have a high net worth many will be resentful and/or will hit you up for money. The people who are truly happy for your financial success are definitely in a small minority.

I have detected that scammers are targeting this video!

Do not contact anyone from the comments who is claiming to be a financial advisor promising you money! These are scammers! Stay safe!

Time and comfort is wealth. Not money.

There are farmers driving around in beat up old pick up trucks, worn out overalls, with enough cash in their pocket to buy a brand new pick up. there’s a lot of money in my town, but you wouldn’t necessarily know it. The older, rich, farmers know not to flaunt it.

Thank you Ken.✨ It is so true that truly rich people only wear and eat and spend moderately. Their wealth and richness are invisible from our eyes. That's the secret of growing wealth. Being invisible.✨

I am not truly wealthy, but quite wealthy, and I wear clothes for a long time, rarely buy brands, have a 15 year old car and a paid off home. I have no debt either. I think people just do not understand the feeling of freedom being financially secure brings you. I have a slogan; "Finish every month in the black" as a start. Just don't spend money you don't have. Thats a good start. If you need to borrow to buy something; rather save until you have the cash or buy something cheaper.

It is not the wealth that matters. What is inside your head matters way more. I don't understand how can people think, that they will buy a watch to be respected?

i used to live across from Ken Thompson. The richest man in Canada. He was relatively modest, although he had a mansion, and an incredible art collection. Its debatable, you still want to enjoy the fruits of your labour.

So true ..people who buy extra expensive objects are just showing off..Also I think trully wealthy people spend more on day to day things..delicious and nutritious foods..vitamins..clothes made from natural fabric ( which can be super expensive but look modest). And when they go on a trip, they may not select the popular places but they do chose high quality hotels with rich breakfast and amazing views that are more private and away from the touristic loud locations. They just chose what makes them happy not what makes others happy. And probably the universe rewards them ☺

Funny as I swim through my early70's I still want things but now time seems the most precious.

A lot of people show off on social media. From an outsider, it looks like they have endless stream of money. But, when a health condition comes up, they'd go on social media asking financial help from their friends and family.

When I met my mentor, he was driving a 31-year-old car. He was dressed so plainly, I almost ignored him. Nothing about him screams money.

But when I told him about an office building that was up for sale at a heavily discounted price, he came up with $33 million in a form of a cashier's check within 3 days.

He's a multi-billionaire and nobody can ever distinguish him from the average person.

Spot on! Accumulating wealth requires discipline in budgeting and avoiding unnecessary expenses. Investing in meaningful experiences can bring fulfillment while staying financially smart. 💡

Agree, often times the reality of owning something expensive is less valuable than the idea of owning it.

I had a business in Japan for 15 years and did quite well. I did buy a nice car because it was a dream of mine to have it. It was money well spent but that car was 1 month profit I made and I built a big house with 1 year profit the rest I invested. Not about showing off just wanted the experience but now I got rid of the car and house 4x wealthier and drive a Nissan lol. Just about growing up and priorities I feel.

We have 2, smaller, houses and older vehicles paid off long ago. I started investing in high school and when I buy things focus on functionality more than Brand. The only thing "off" you'd notice is I have books Everywhere in the house 😊 My mother was a librarian guess it rubbed off

The best sign of wealth is physical fitness. Having a nice body turns a $100 outfit into a $1000 outfit, and your body is a ticket into any social group. Just don't take it too far and get super big muscles. Under 200lbs with a flat stomach is best.

Very good advice from Ken!! Living modestly is likely to be more rewarding than spending too much on stuff you don't actually need. True riches like love, family, health etc. are FAR more precious and will make you happier and more fulfilled.
