Yeah I completely agree. I have tried the metal ones and they just destroyed the grass. Nothing beats an actual dethatcher 👍 you want the vertical cuts and not horizontal cuts.

Cheap Sun Joe electric one works good enough comes with verticutter too.

Yep it’s still worthless. I’ve used the other one you posted a vid on with the 2 metal tines. I found that taking the throttle spring off and allowing the motor to come way down in RPM’s also really helps with not tearing the shit out of the grass. Otherwise on full RPM set low it ls like tilling 😂 😂

I bought that blade last fall (2023) and it removed four bags of thatch from my tiny front yard. I thought it worked well for the cost.

They make walk behind de-thatchers you can rent at any equipment rental place such as sunbelt. Quick and easy.

I fell for that scam too... POS doesn't de-thatch crap. I put in longer trimming strings to get any thatch up.

They sell a blade and spring kit for dethatching and they work great.

I think the problem is that thing need to be spinning the other way so it can lift and pull. All that does is rip and shred. However that will work good for picking up leaves in the fall.

I met a guy yesterday whose brother on the landscaping company in New York and he charges roughly $400 per lawn per cut. I’m shocked more people aren’t mowing their own lawn

Yeah most detaching blades are useless. Do yourself a favor and just buy a SunJoe electric detaching and scarifying machine (or one of the other similar brands). They do a great job. They generally only last 5-10 years, but for the price it’s a no brainer.

Im thinking these things were not meant for the reel mower crowd Ive only used this in my backyard which is maintained at 3 inches Ive never used in front yard which is maintained at .75 inch.

That blade wrecked my lawn last year. Didnt have to cut it all year because of it
