Thank you this was a big help. Today was the first time I used the mini sluce and panning set. I've watched people do it plenty of times but never actually had hands on experience. It was pretty much a complete failure and I didn't understand why... until now. Thanks for sharing your experience good sir!

The Garret super sluice has large deep trenches instead of smaller riffles this allows you to pull off a less then level angle and the depth of the trenches make up for it... I believe this helps you pan a little faster with less effort when dipping... Sluices also have a slight negative angle

Hi Jack..Woody Wampler came along while I was panning Lynx Creek many years ago, and the first thing he said to me was "Don't swirl your pan like that" I didn't know who he was at the time, and I don't think he had done his Superstition Gold series on history channel yet....good to see someone else with experience saying the same..

Tip four use a magnet to get rid of most of the black sand
