If I remember correctly, theres a certain point where you have too much equipment and it’s considered like actual mining or something and you need a license or approval from the state

Gold panning was used to detect the presence of gold in soil, a prospector would dig out some soil on a riverside, pan it for gold, and if he was lucky find some specs. He would then dig either side until he narrowed down what area has gold and what doesn't, and then he'd funnel his way back from the river until he found the approximate location of a large gold deposit

In some countries you cannot do this as the laws state this would be stealing from the nation's resources. Only a licensed person with ownership of the land could have the rights to sell the gold they find.

Get plier and a magnet too, the pliers are for nuggets too big for the snuffer, and the magnet is really helpful for dealing with the black sand
