I'm a Software Engineer and I'm intrigued by this years silicon based Macbooks. I currently have a 11 year old Lenovo laptop running Windows 10 Enterprise on an SSD. I've used Macbook before so I am familiar with MacOS.
I am tempted by the M4 Pro, 14" model with 24GB RAM, 1TB storage model.
Considering the price of these Macbooks, I'd like to keep it and use it as long as I can, preferably same number of years to my Lenovo, so my question is, can it last that long?

Does the nano texture display affect sharpness? Especially for text? I'm not concerned with color reproduction, it's not important to me. But text sharpness is, I have a Studio Display for my M1 MBP Pro, but when I'm out and about, the glare can be annoying on certain places, but I would deal with that rather than take a hit on text sharpness.

Do you feel like the blacks are washed out on the nano texture display? And will you stick with the nano texture over the regular one, I heard some concerns over easier scratching on the nano

Hi, great video. I am a casual user with my most intensive use being excel. I currently have an M1 2020 MBP base model and am considering getting the new M4 base model as my M1 is slightly slowing down but still works fine. Is it worth the $1600? I also get a $400 trade in value for my M1

If you get the nano screen what screen protector would you get? I imagine an anti reflective screen protector on a nano screen would be overkill?

Ig my biggest concern is the nano texture display, I will have to check it out personally when they're available in stores. As I plan to use it for heavy video editing and photography editing, the screen is an important aspect. I have a FullHD monitor IPS rn.

I’m probably upgrading to the M4 MBP just for the 1000nit SDR brightness alone. That was an absolute game changer on my M4 iPad Pro.
