I appreciate the video. I am also type 2 and am looking to get back into hiking after many years off. Thank you for the tips and have a good summer!

I was hiking on CDT when I realized I had an enormous thirst. I drank 4 L of water and 10 miles of relatively easy hiking. I went to the doctor and had an A1c of 6.1 about what it’s been for the last 15 years but just a month later it was up to 10. I’ve been hiking my whole life and love being in the outdoors. I’m now on Metformin A1c is back to 6.1 knocking off 7 mile Mornings four days a week and I’m looking at possibly doing theAT next year at 77 years of age . Diabetes is as much a part of my journey as my hikes, it just looks a little different.

I lived in manistique Michigan schoolcraft county and I've been to picture rocks a few times it's beautiful. Did you go to the beach? I haven't watched the videos yet I was just curious where you went hiking. I will definitely watch them. Miners Beach is beautiful or it was last time I was there. I love munising and the waterfalls as well. I moved because my family's in New York and my dad is in a nursing home not well and I did not like Michigan as I moved there from being in Florida for several years several different times as a home care aide. My daughter was in Michigan with my grandchildren is why I went there and ended up there five years instead of one. Sorry for the long text. But picture tracks was beautiful I wish I had seen more of the beautiful parts of Michigan

Just getting into hiking now. Mainly day hiking. Haven't had many issues so far. Wondering if you have managed to find good diabetic hiking socks? I get the foot swelling that goes with having diabetes. Finding wool hiking socks that don't cut off curculation has been difficult to say 5he leas5.

great tips! I have Type 1 Diabetes and am on an insulin pump because my pancreas doesn't produce insulin anymore. I am planning a thru-hike of the AT starting early next year. I just created my channel, but haven't posted any videos yet.
