Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide. People who have had a stroke are at high risk of having another – but many can be prevented. Lifestyle changes, such as maintaining a healthy diet, exercising regularly, quitting smoking and reducing alcohol intake can help lower the risk of a subsequent stroke.
