Reducing the risk of secondary stroke
Показать описание
Hanne Christensen, MD, PhD, MSci , from University of Copenhagen, Copenhagen, emphasizes the work required to reduce the risk of secondary stroke. 1 in 5 patients admitted with a stroke have previously experienced one, and 70% of all stroke patients are already being treated with anticoagulants. This implies there are additional factors that need to be considered for effective stroke prevention. Prof. Christensen highlights the importance of addressing other risk factors such as poor diet, obesity, smoking, and unmanaged diabetes and hypertension to further reduce the incidence of secondary strokes. This interview took place at the 10th European Stroke Organisation Conference in Basel, Switzerland.
