You left out a piece of the quote. Alice said "My father wants to be the bride at every wedding, the baby at every christening and the corpse at every funeral". No one is sure about the correct order, not that it matters. Love your videos. Thanks.

Fun facts: Teddy is the only tattooed president in American history, having his family crest tattooed on his chest. He also ran a fightclub in the basement of the Whitehouse where he would fight rival politicians. He once got shot in the chest at close range while giving a speech. He attacked the shooter, kicked his ass, and took the gun, then proceeded to finish the speech with the bullet lodged in his chest. As far as absolute badass presidents go, you'd be hard pressed to find one bigger that Teddy.

The privilege of being the daughter of a rich and powerful father. Not just any woman would have been able to do the things she did and or said.

My great grandmother Muller was from Vienna Austria and her first job after coming to the United States was president Taft’s governess. She held that job for a couple of years and then married.

Clearly, she took after her father and his boundless energy.

I'm wondering if it was this Roosevelt daughter that was quoted to say "If you can't say anything nice about anybody, come sit next to me" (yes, it's the same line Olympia Dukakis used in the film Steel Magnolias)

She was spoiled and given a lot of exceptional leeway because her mother died she was always poor motherless Alice.

No way you can’t want to hang out with Alice or Teddy. I think she was her dad’s reflection in a woman’s life of that time and dang she wasn’t going to be told what she could or couldn’t do! ❤

She is Tedy Roosevelt's daughter, what would you expect? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Great video 🇺🇸

Her granddaughter, Joanna Sturm, is still alive and is 78 years old.
Alice raised her after her mom passed away in 1957 at the age of 31.
You're welcome.

Alice and TR had each other’s measure.

Both TR’s wife and mother died on the same night and a grief stricken Roosevelt spent 2 years in the Dakotas to recover. Alice was an infant and he and Alice never bonded like he did with his other children. The Roosevelt family was forbidden to bring up his first wife for discussion.

I was expecting Teddy to say what more do you expect from a daughter of a bull moose

So
..she was just like her dad. Teddy never held back either. Especially when describing native Americans. Read about how he fought in the Spanish American war which wasn't even an American war until he decided to make it one. He loved war, drinking and doing anything else he felt like.

Wow we need more daughters like this. Maybe our country would not be in SHAMBLES if we had first daughters who shared their integrity with their fathers.
