We were definitely in Puppy heaven when we went to pick up our Shetland Sheepdog puppy.
There were 8 puppies: Sable, Tri-Color, Blue Merle and even a special little all grey one!
Our pick of the litter was the smallest female puppy, but she was the most energetic and feisiest one out of the pack!
Check out the video of the puppies playing, running and wrestling.
Which one would you pick?
Do you have a favorite puppy, like an Aussie puppy, Border collie puppy?
Lot's of people mistake a Sheltie (Shetland Sheepdog) as a Collie puppy, even when the Sheltie is an adult! Also the Blue Merles can be mistaken for a Aussie, or a Sable mistaken for one of the most popular dogs ever... Lassie! But a puppy Lassie of course!
The bi-color Shelties also have a close resemblance to a Border collie.
Many years ago, the Shelties were bred for the Shetland Islands, a cold damp misty climate, hence the 2 coats needed to keep them warm. The Sheltie is a descendant of small specimens of the Scottish Collie and the King Charles Spaniel (much like an Icelandic Sheepdog) and once brought to mainland Britain in the 20th century, a Rough Collie (Lassie) was added to the breed stock helping develop the modern look of the breed today.
Shelties are extremely intelligent, learn tricks and commands very quickly. Usually within about 5 times of repeatedly showing them the same task. They are extremely loyal and will tend to "herd" you and your family, always keeping an eye where everyone is. They are known to be like your shadow!

I loved all of them, but the gray one was so unique.

Once you've had a Sheltie in your family, very few breads can compete with your heart after that experience. But I am certain I am not telling you anything you wouldn't know by now. Very sorry for the loss of your Chloe. And congratulations on your new addition. 5 years since my 3 Shelties have passed. I want another pack, but my heart isn't ready. For now I will live vicariously. Enjoy!

The standard sables are gorgeous, but the breed is simply marvelous!

The blue is gorgeous. We started with shelties and now have rough collies. Herders are the best!

The blue merle (or if it's a bi-blue, either way the mostly gray one) would be the one I would pick if I was choosing. So adorable. We have a 7 year old bi-blue male.

All the Shetland Sheepdog puppies are so cute.
I own 2 rough collies. One passed away in 1993. Then I got my 2nd rough collie in 1994 and he passed away in 2007 from nose cancer.
In 2008, I got my very 1st sheltie. He passed away on July 31, 2020 at the age of 12.5 years weighting 50lbs. He was on Zignature and Wellness, and it was not good for him. I miss him very much.

I liked the gray one, she/he had a reserved personality and loved his ear type.

I had a sable sheltie, they are so lovable, intelligent, and live to please. My sheltie lived to be eleven years old, and died of kidney failure, and I still miss her! A particular favorite game of my sheltie, was the sock game.

I’d choose the bi-blue looks the calmest and like it would think everything through and not just bolt into things pigheadedly! If that makes sense x

Well this little girl was worth the drive! What a little whipper snapper. Wishing you years of enjoyment! OMG. having seen all of them, Ollie is the winner, but I'd have left with 5 probably!! Theres nothing like a warm puppy belly and lots of happy wiggles.

Hi from England. I’ve had 3 Shelties, one male and two females. I loved them all dearly and watching this brought back many memories. Thank you for posting. Your little pup is super.

Normally I would choose a sable, but that special little grey one steals my heart. All of them are so precious and fluffy though! I'm sorry for your loss, and congratulations for your new puppy <33 I hope someday I can have a sheltie, they're my dream dog :)
