Ethernet Splitter ❌ Ethernet Switch ✅

To connect multiple devices to only one Ethernet port it might seem intuitive to just get an Ethernet splitter. Since we use splitters in many other scenarios like for power and audio. However Ethernet doesn’t work the same way. Using an Ethernet splitter would split your connection speeds between devices or may not even work at all.

An Ethernet Switch is the actual device that you need to connect different devices to the same Ethernet port/cable so that you can maintain your upload and download speeds no matter how many connections you have. And it’s affordable!

A splitter allows you to use only 1 device to the Ethernet at a time. Meaning if 1 object is on it'll work but if more items are on it will not work. Useful for budget options of switching your Ethernet connection between devices without moving the cable around. A switch lets you share the Ethernet at a slightly slower rate

In his initial statement he had to have been mistaken. I believe he means a single Ethernet port. The setup would require 3 Ethernet cables. 1 from the port to the switch and then from the switch you would run an Ethernet cable to each device totalling 3 cables.
