In this video, Dr. Berg talks about cinnamon and all its amazing functions.

Cinnamon potentiates insulin, which improves insulin resistance (pre-diabetes). You can use this to lower your blood sugars and even reduce cravings. It has a very high ORAC value (anti-oxidant score). Definitely use cinnamon to improve insulin resistance (prediabetes) and diabetes.

This type of information should be taught in schools at an early age to all students.

I had few sticks and decided to try to make a tea. So I put them in a pot, added water, let it boil for 10 minutes. I let them sit overnight, bottled the tea the morning after and put it in the fridge. Amazing taste and it's sweet!

This video prompted me to do additional research into the health properties of cinnamon. I found several credible scientific studies on the health benefits of cinnamon, including lowering fasting blood sugar levels and improving insulin resistance, but I also discovered that the Cassin variety (plant species Cinnamomum cassia, usually grown in China or Vietnam) can be dangerously toxic in the amounts needs to produce therapeutic benefit. The Cassin variety has high levels of coumarin, which can dangerously interact with prescription blood thinners (Coumadin, Eliquis, etc.), and can also damage the liver. ONLY "true" cinnamon, from Ceylon, plant species variety Cinnamomum verum (aka Cinnamomum zeylanicum) is safe, as it contains only trace amounts (insignificant) of the toxic compound coumarin. That's my understanding from reading at least a dozen publications and studies. I URGE Dr. Berg to take down this video and re-record it, to clear up this critical difference in cinnamon varieties.

Ceylon cinnamon is the real deal. I've been using it for a while. May be a tad more expensive and less easy to find but it doesn't have the toxic courmarin problem associated with the cheaper cassia version.
Summary : Get the Ceylon not the cassia.

"Ceylon" cinnamon is only found in Sri Lanka. Some says Cassia is bad for the health. Ceylon cinnamon has a distinctive pleasant smell where as cassia has a sharp smell. True cinnamon is soft enough to be crushed between finger tips but cassia is very strong and can only be broken in to pieces.

Important questions not answered:
1. How much should be consumed daily?
2. What form of cinnamon?
3. How should it be ingested?
4. When should it be taken?

Both Ceylon and Cassia are effective in reducing blood sugar. The effective dose is 1 to 6 grams. Due to toxic ingredient for liver in cassia cinnamon, it’s recommended not to take more than one teaspoon per day. However, Ceylon is much more tolerable. If one teaspoon (2 grams) is sufficient, don’t bother which type you are taking. If you need to consume more, then Ceylon is the answer. My personal recommendation is mix the both like one teaspoon of each one.

Love u Dr Berg, but i'm surprised that u didnt mention any of the studies between the 2 types of Cinnamon. Cassia is known to work great for insulin Resistance, however, it was discovered that it can be possibly harmful to the liver, when taken often and in larger amounts. . As opposed to Ceylon, True Cinnamon, which was not harmful to the liver, BUT, didnt have an affect on insulin like Casia. Can u please and respond to my concern? THank U Dr Berg! Been watching u since your start on Youtube. .

Organic cinnamon from Ceylon - Sri Lanca is very different from cassia, from China and Indonesia. The first does not contain the substance coumarin, which is normally abundant in Chinese cinnamon. Otherwise, excessive consumption of coumarin can damage the liver and kidneys. Important to know for the ppl who take it in daily bases. Even then do not take more than ½ coffe spoon twice a day

Just want to share my experience with Cassia, was using it frequently and developed ridiculously sore corners of the mouth, very red, to the point I couldn't open my mouth without it hurting. I got rid of it and switched to Ceylon and it went away. I did some research and it does cause liver damage in large amounts, traced this info back to one of Dr Berg's videos of the dry corners of mouth, connected the dots and released I was having too much Cassia. It's worth paying a bit more for Ceylon. I use Ceylon everyday, sprinkle it on everything, have had no problems since. Even small amounts of Cassia for me, brings back the problem.

I don't know if it matters but I lowered my BP 20 points in less than two weeks by putting it in a tablespoon of acv and water.

It makes the tea so sweet, has it got sugar, and will that feed candida?

Would you recommend Berberine or Ceylon Cinnamon? I've tried both and honestly Ceylon Cinnamon seems to help a lot more with my Diabetic Neuropathy especially in my legs the pain seems to go away almost completely but what one do you think is better for Neuropathy?
