A restaurant that's been open for 300 years! Damn, the staff must be knackered!

It's not only in Hungary, but it south east Turkey, that nodding the head means no. I was in a Bosun's Chair 60 feet up in the air, when I looked down. The man holding my rope had his foot on it, as he turned to give his colleague a light. I grabbed the ropes in time to stop me falling those 60 feet. It gave me satisfaction to ball out this guy, as he kept nodding. I knew that he was saying, "No, I do not understand, " but it soothed my troubled heart.

I kind of agree with the Egyptians about salt or pepper. I always make an effort to have at least one bite of anything prepared by another person before I make even a small change. Especially at restaurants. But, I am a trained cook, so it makes sense to me.

Western Australia was known as New Holland, the coast was rather impenetrable so they moved on, and they had no idea about the other side of the country. That's why the rest was found by Captain Cook and mapped (basically him doing his job, sailing around the world drawing maps), and then settlers (convicts) came after that

Another story on how Canada got its name (and way more hilarious) two Spanish explorers got to the top of a ridge and gestured to the area ahead and said "Akinada" meaning "nothing here".

Iceland isn't the least _popular_ European country (it's very popular!), it's one of the least _populated..._

In Egypt it's not something offensive at all to ask for salt or pepper during meals. That ridiculous fact made me doubt about all the previous ones you mentioned😅
