Legendary Army pilot Alan Mack speaks with David Hookstead about getting shot down in Afghanistan during the Battle of Takur Ghar. The battle was part of Operation Anaconda. It is often called Robert's Ridge. Two men there - John Chapman (KIA) and Britt Slabinski - were later awarded the Medal of Honor.

Alan is one of the most famous pilots in Army history and served in the 160th SOAR - also known as the Night Stalkers. It's an elite helicopter unit with the best pilots in the world.

Man I could never be a pilot, I was a grunt, and was fine with being on the ground . Any pilot has my respect. You have to be crazy to do that job
