Quadra-Fire Thermocouple Installation Replacement

Welcome back to Pellet Tech 101. This video is designed to be a general guide for removing and installing the thermocouple on a Quadra-Fire 1200i pellet stove. There are 3 different thermocouples for Quadra-Fire pellet stove models. Links below for each.

I am having an issue where I hear the auger motor spinning but it won’t drop pellets anymore. I checked for a clog but there’s nothing. Any ideas on what this issue could be?

any ideas why my convection blower won't blow heat into the room? the flame gets very large yet no forced air into room.then I go and turn thermostat way down to shut down unit- then the convection fan blows the hot air out, purging the heat.

I’m trying to figure out how to hook up the handle for the ash pot on a Quadrafire 1200

What other possibilities would cause this problem? I swapped out the thermocouple and still have the same problem.

How would a thermocouple be wired backwards? The wires complete a loop and get energy from a magnetic tip that produces a little bit of energy when heat is introduced

when turned on pellets fall, ignites, fire in pot then pellets don’t fall. is this a vac switch or auger motor?

I have a new situation happening here now. Happened twice now (older stove -over twenty years). Classic Bay 1200 freestanding unit. So what’s happening is that pellet auger keeps feeding pellets (does not stop to let igniter work).
What I end up with is a HUGE pile of pellets in stove (& clearly no heat). Suspect the thermocouple is the problem but it’s intermittent.

My Mt. Vernon model is opening the fire cup, dropping pellets directly into the ash pan, and then closing the fire cup. Any idea what makes that happen?

I have a question… my pellet stove turns on and heats up enough for fan to kick on but it stops feeding pellets and turns off stove. What can it be?

You are so kind to answer these questions, thank you. My Father-in -Law passed away last spring and my daughter is now living in her Papa’s home. The Quadra fire 1200 insert I can get to light by pressing the reset button eventually, but after the thermostat temperature is reached, and fire dies, it will not relight n its own. I have seen the green light, the red light, and occasionally the amber will flash and I have to unplug and replug to reboot it. This sounds like a thermocouples issue to me, but I’m hoping you can confirm. Also, can you explain what the positions of the black toggle switch in upper left corner of control box represent. Thank you so much.

On an 1100i, there are no lights coming on the black control board (brand new). Could that be caused by a bad thermocouple or more likely a click on that needs to be replaced?

I have to comment and say that my thermocouple went bad in my Santa Fe insert.. I installed a new one and suddenly I lost pellet feed after initial startup. Also, I had no lights on my circuit board. Well, about 4 weeks later during one day, I sat staring at the stove and It hit me that all of the other problems began upon installation of the new thermocouple. Come to find out that the new thermocouple was wired from the factory in reverse polarity. I made 2 jumpers and connected them, plugged stove back in. Still no lights in control box and no constant feed until I hit the reset button. VOILA!!! Unit runs like new and functions flawlessly. I just had to mention this because I could not find this information anywhere. Hopefully this helps someone trying to figure it out too.
