great video. All I did was hit my thermopile with sand paper and it worked. Saved me a ton of money and aggravation going into the holidays. I had people preparing for me for a full-on replacement/remodel and then I found this video and fixed it. Thanks!

After watching this video I discovered whoever did my old fireplace didn't screw a proper thermocouple into the gas valve but instead rigged a non-standard thermocouple, attached it to the valve using an extra component with a wire which is welded/glued to a washer. Removing all that junk now with totally new components. If the gas valve location in mine didn't match this video exactly, I probably never would have figured it out. Thanks!!

I thank you for this, it helped me solve my problem of the pilot light not staying lit. The thermocouple tested fine and found the locking nut not tight after 20 years. Working fine now, but I did test the thermocouple per your instructions and it was fine.

Thank you very much for finally solving my issue. What helped me was that you said that the flame had to be blue hot, but mine was yellow and pointing slightly away from the thermal-pile. There was a little ball of the fake ash in the way. I used a screw driver to push it out of the way, the flame is now blue, and the fireplace started right up.

Just saved me hassle and money! Thank you ! My thermocouple just wasn’t in tight enough so after testing and finding it still good, I reattached it and it now works great!

You helped me tremendously in this post and saved me a call to a technician. I tested the voltage and it was a bit low so I cleaned the thermocouple and thermopile and the fireplace lit up like a charm. Thanks for your help.

Very good video. Simple and clear straight to the point. Your video just saved me big bucks and time from having to call an HVAC guy. I am going straight to your web site to shop for parts. Thanks again.

I ordered a few things on your website and love these videos. Thank you! I had a brand new fireplace that would just randomly act like the thermocouple was bad. Ended up being loose where it screws in lol

Assuming the thermocouple is bad, how does one go about ordering a replacement? For instance, are they marked with part numbers, model numbers, etc.?
