Thank you 337 Speed for taking the time to produce this video. This is why I love Youtube - knowledge transfer from experienced professionals. I recently had my 2018 Corvette Grand Sport cammed with headers, cold air intake, no cat x-pipe, and a mellow exhaust. I love the performance and sound, but I'm not too fond of it when I come to a slow stop or let off of the brake from a complete stop to rolling - my Vette jolts and jerks a lot. It's like trying to get a wild horse to stay still. Is this an unintended consequence of a cam swap?

Yessir sometimes less is more.

The man-child in me wanted an agressive cam and all the trimmings to extract the most from my trailblazer 5 3.

But then the more mature me realized my wife will drive this sometimes and I drive 40 mi to work and to dial it back a little.

BTR tq cam with afm delete, all new vlave train from trays to springs to lifters and longtube headers and I'm happy.

Still chops a little and its been tuned to perfection and I even picked up mpg along with better drivability and I look like a champ to my wife.

That wouldn't have been whaf happened had I went with all the extreme stuff like I used to.

Guess I'm getting older and softer.

Great video. Really well explained. The visuals were a real bonus. I’ve watched plenty of cam videos and this one probably gave the clearest explanations. Nice work.

Another aspect to think about is what is the purpose of the vehicle? You can build a truck to be as fast as a corvette or even faster. Low end cams are only good for daily’s and grocery getters. A big duration cam can still be handled if built right in a 5.3 of course you can only go so big.
I’ve seen people put 235/240 cams in a 5.3 with a 4000 stall and a shot of nitrous on 3.73 rear end and it’s a nasty setup of course it’s all preference for NA or a boosted setup.

Just wanted to say thank you for this video!! I have the DOD delete kit, Springs, Push Rods and TSP Stage 2 cam for my '16 Sierra sitting in my garage and have been wracking my brain as to whether I need a higher stall torque converter. I've had a Circle D 3000-3200 stall converter in my shopping cart for the past week but wanted to make sure I actually needed it. Your video made buying an easy choice. Thanks again.

Dude thanks for completely and clearly explaining the stats .
I had to upgrade cam during Dod delete and collapsed lifter replace.

Damn, I want to try out that Little Chopper in my LS6 CTS-V. I have a previous version BTR Stage 4 and PRC 2.5 243 heads that I didn't have milled due to the cam size. I want something smaller with roughly a 110 LSA for more low end torque and be able to mill the heads to gain power everywhere. I'll also do a before and after dyno.

Definitely helpful for my 11 5.3 Yukon. It's just a daily driver but I'm just looking to delete the mds and give it some torque. I'm not looking to blast out ear drums or dump thousands and thousands into it. Thank you for the straight forward video on where to start.

Bruh. Your content is amongst the BEST, right up there with the best car channels (I prefer ones like you, Albion, Hunter moon, etc.. which, y'all doing a collab would be AMAZING)

This is an awesome video! I have a 2008 yukon xl denali with the lq9 6.2 that I am rebuilding this summer and am looking at a good cam for it as well as headers and a fast intake and throttle body. Potential for adding boost down the road. Will definitely be watching all your videos, wicked amount of detailed information. Keep em coming.

Great video Sir, very well said. My cam swap came because of a lifter failure. So I went with complete DOD Delete. I also did LT Headers and 3 inch catback while I was there. Truck was tuned and drives great, for the most part. Its a slug down low, which drives me crazy... after its gets up to speed its fine. My mechanic never mentioned anything about a higher stall converter. Now I really need to find one that is well suited for daily driving. Vehicle is an 07 Suburban, she's a big girl, but I like her.

Great video here man!! this is a video that a few people I know shouldve watched before choosing a cam and springs, I read a lot and watched Richard Holdener doing a lot before choosing my (5.3 LS1 swapped 98 Trans Am)Comp HR 265 114 lsa and spring kit, I only lost 2 mpg and picked up a ton of power, and its my daily driver still after 4 years.

I thought you explained that well. Could have mentioned Advance. Could have mentioned events. You did mention overlap. I had a '93 RX-7 w/ a '02 LS-1 and M6, long tubes and LS-6 intake. Because of this manifold, I wanted the intake valve to close @ 42abdc. If I had a FAST I could close at 44, if I had a Super Victor - maybe 48 or 50. I wanted a cam with throttle response and street manners. 222/226 112 +1 with lift just under .600" to be easy on the valve tips and that soft camMotion ramp speed.

When I Cammed my 2008 5.3 Flex Z71 all I changed was Headers, CAI Tube Only, TB Spacer, Oil Pump with COPO spring, and Corvette Servo, it Already has a 373 in the rear and I Doubt it will Ever See a Track, but it does Great Light to Light on E85 and a Tune!

Awesome video! Thank you for the information. Really does shine a little light on adding some power instead of throwing money without getting the bang for your buck!
