There’s still no actual stated performance improvements whatsoever.
If you already own a Series X, don’t bother with this mid-gen ‘refresh’.

I just couldn't buy a console without a disc drive

There's not a difference for the average consumer.

Um... Disagree with the 2020 version looking more complicated. Indeed I don't see much difference in the circuit board... Sure, the processor chip is smaller, and there seem to be slightly fewer (perhaps smaller) passive components. Overall, pretty much the same design....

Let's not normalize discless consoles

An Xbox series X without a disc drive. Hard pass. I don't care if it performs better. No disc drive, no purchase.

That thing could be made out of gold but without a disc drive it will never be "better"

He didn’t really highlight the differences. From a viewer’s point of view it looks the same

to complete the last sentence correctly: the new Xbox series X is … cheaper to produce…

Imagine calling "upgrade" a cheap ass heatsink solution instead of a vapor chamber, a smaller chip with no better performance and also no disk drive.

I like how no one is talking about the fact that removing the disc drive essentially nerfs their entire backwards compatibility program. You know, the one that built up all of Xbox's good will with gamers this gen. You are able to pick up Original Xbox and 360 discs for a few bucks, toss them in your Series X, and download the full game w/ upgrades. Now, if the game isn't on the digital store due to licensing (many such cases), you can't play it, even though it's still backwards compatible. The disc is the literal key to unlocking many BC games.

I still find it funny that they were able to make a digital version of the Series X but they can't give a disc version of a Series S. 😂

This white one is louder unfortunately. I had also older black version - totally silence.

The heatshink is cheaper. Thats called cost cutting. Sure they can say that the newer version doesn't need the copper based heatsink because its a whopping 1nm smaller, but going from 7nm to 6nm is relatively small to the point where there is probably hardly any difference in the amount cpu heat they both give off.

Not at all. It will not be better. It is the same thing with cheaper parts. They put cheaper parts into it and charge the same or more.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Remember back in the old days, the had computers that took entire ROOMS just to run simple programs and games.

Looks the same to me, but i dont solder circuit boards for a living, im a plumber.

In my opinion if you'd buy a console without a disc drive you might aswell buy a pc. Way better prices on there (and pirating)

Also i own a ps5 dont call me a console hater but without discs i dont see the point
