During the CNN shots of Baghdad and all of the AA flak that was being let off did you notice how they weren't hitting anything, so it seems confusing to me why you would want to present an easy target to the enemy like the A-10 or the Tornado. As for closeness that would be better left to a drone.

Its a little dated, that and the Tornado were getting shot down by Iraqi anti-aircraft fire in Gulf War I because they fly too low.
