My friend's neighbor, who was similarly a former Green Beret, also had people stealing from his porch. He handled it quite differently. He placed a large bogus package on his porch and then hired his buddy to watch the porch for a few days. Low and behold, a porch pirate showed up and took the package, got into a car and fled. The guy who was hired to watch the porch successfully tracked the thief's vehicle to their house. After that I have no comment.

You are my hero! Law Enforcement goes through a laundry list of ways you are responsible if someone gets hurt and how it is illegal to build and set a trap while they don't diligently go after these people. Porch pirating should be classified as felony because the first thing the person does wrong is trespass along with burglary. Sometimes you have to resort to self help because no one is going to help you. Great job!
