With Battlefield 6 around the corner, we take a look back at how destruction has evolved in the Battlefield franchise.

In a world where first person shooters are a dime a dozen, anyone who has played the original Battlefield games or grew up with later entries such as Battlefield 4 can tell you their favorite moments when interacting with the game’s use of destruction. What’s up all, I’m David, and destruction in Battlefield has to be one of my absolute favorite aspects of the franchise! From its first entry in Battlefield 1943 to the unreleased Battlefield 6, if there is one thing that the franchise will guarantee, it’s environmental destruction over the course of a match. Let’s take a look at how the series uses destruction and “levolution” and just what makes it so special. We’ll also take a quick moment to speculate on the rumors of what destruction in Battlefield 6 could look like. Just came across this video today. Unfortunately, all the hype about Battlefield 2042 is a let-down in terms of destruction. We got the least amount of destruction since BF2, and no levolution, fortifying (no stationary gun-mounts at all really), and the tornado does nothing to the map at all. It is a cool looking tornado, but that's about all it does.

We're at the point now where we can do ALL of these types of destruction, including terrain deformation, and still have high frame rates and player counts on both PC and console. So, I expect BF6 to have pretty much everything previous BFs had, but of course, they will focus in and market a specific feature or draw to differentiate it from the competition. This game MUST be made on last gen consoles. Because of the shortage of console availability, there will only be a handful on console players playing if it's limited to the handful of PS5s and Xbox Xs. . This game needs as many people playing it at once as it can. Open up cross play with Switch, Xbox, PS, Atari Jaguar, Sega Dreamcast, NES etc and lets get it on.
