I got something nice to say to people who are purposefully child-free. If kindness is to appease suffering and when possible prevent it, then intentional non-parents are immeasurably kind. I mean, you might be assholes in other respects but as far as not having kids, you're nailing it. And here's why. Imagine having the power to protect an infinite number of people from all suffering. And that's exactly what you're doing by allowing potential human beings to remain in their current state of non-being. Everyone who says, "You know what, I'm not going to have kids" is doing their part to prevent infinite suffering.

Despite seeming passive, the power of that kindness is as expansive as the pain it prevents. And I for one am impressed. So nice of you. And it's not easy. Now, because I know I'll get in trouble if I don't say this, the reverse is not necessarily true. Becoming a parent is not infinite unkindness. Although, it might be good from time-to-time to check in with the kids and see if they agree. All right, thanks for listening. Come along if you want to. Might make up for all the people who stopped coming along, because I just pissed them off.

I am an intentionally child-free woman in my early 30s. No one seems to understand my perspective or respect my choice. But I appreciate this small statement of support.

I decided at 16 not to have kids. I'm in my mid 50s and have no regrets.

People are all about "don't breed dogs, that's cruel, adopt! Rescue!" But don't have the same energy for human children... 🤔

I'm not having kids because I'm too selfish and would rather sleep in longer! Enough said really

Exactly! I would ask my Mum as a kid why she chose to bring us into this world knowing how crazy and cruel the world is and she said she wanted to have a baby but that she knew choosing to have us would be the most selfish decision she’d ever make, but that she’s had to be unselfish ever since because the kids come first 😅 So as a child free 38yr old I still don’t feel all the risks are worth it for me personally, but as a consequence of that choice I’m able to spend lots of time with my nieces and still have free time outside of work.

My parents had me just to get their shot at having a son. But I am not a son so they have always treated me as if it's my fault for coming into this world and that too as a girl. Should have stayed childfree

The people intentionally not having kids, are practical, intelligent and living in THE reality. They are sensible, spiritual far sighted visionaries . They totally get it .

I for one refuse to bring life into a world that I myself don't wish to be part of.

My research mentor asked me if I wanted to have kids. When I said yes he told me to start reading parenting books because he said that the best time to learn how to parent is when you're NOT yet a parent. So I did. Reading parenting books made me realize that I don't have the mental space, selflessness and resources to become the parent my children deserve. I'm child free at 39. What I have now instead is something few people get to experience: a life completely my own.

Thank you! No one has ever understood or agreed with me to not have children. Since I was 9 or 10 years old I knew I didn't want children. I'm old and gray now and don't regret it at ALL.

Its crazy how people get so uptight when you say "I'm not going to have kids" they always think something is wrong with you. Thanks for this video

You know what’s more annoying? When people insist that you’ll still change your mind, you’re still young, and that you’ll regret it one day. NO. They keep projecting their perspective into yours. They can’t understand that we’re different.

So I'm in my late 40s. And more and more, I hear people in their 20s & 30s say they could never bring a child into the world, because all they see is misery. I've always told them that decision makes them a great parent and gave this exact reason. While usually confused at first, by the time I finished explaining, they were at a minimum relieved I wasn't putting on them the normal pressures a lot of people my age or older would, but I've also gotten tears and hugs of gratitude for understanding that that's what they were doing.

To all the people that want to save their children the pain of this world by not having them, that is a sign of caring and in many cases even love.

When I got a vasectomy I had 2 appointments, a screening with the urologist then a 2nd for the outpatient procedure. Both visits a nurse made smalltalk and asked "So, you already have kids?" And when I said No, I don't want any, the nurses looked at me like I had suddenly grown an extra hand out of my nose or something. Not wanting to spawn just didn't compute.

Thank you!! You get it!
I have a infinite number of reasons why I'm childless on purpose, but I've boiled it down to two.
1. I cannot promise this human that had no vote in being created that I can provide it a life without suffering.
2. I cannot promise the world that this human that I have chosen to create and put into this world won't somehow cause it suffering.

I ❤ my children so much that I don't want to bring them into this crazy world only to suffer financially and physically.

Thank you. It was not a selfish decision, although so many assume it is.
Yeah lol I am trash in a lot of other ways, but being responsible for a person's existence (and ultimate demise) is too heavy a burden that too many take too lightly.
