Kamala Harris Will Win, According to Historian Who Predicted 9 of Last 10 Presidential Elections

I spoke with American University Professor Allan Lichtman who has a near-perfect 40-year track record for predicting the winner of the presidential election. He explained how patterns in the political environment can accurately predict the election much better than polls, why you cannot predict elections by what’s happening in swing states, why it's governing not campaigning that counts, and tells us his 13 true-or-false questions that he says hold the “keys” to the White House.

He’s not afraid to face criticism and sticks to his process. That’s extremely reassuring.

Vote, vote, vote. His 13 keys are subject to people actually voting

Allan has done a tremendous work to develop his 13 keys system, the research alone is incredible, my respects to the man.

Katie this was such a wonderful programme and you and Professor Lichtman answered so many pertinent points and questions. He is humble, not arrogant and so knowledgeable and interesting.

Great interview with great questions! I had to laugh a bit at Allan Lichtman’s comment about old “white guys” because the definition of “white” continues to change. I am 67 years old and can remember very well when Jews weren’t considered white and southern Italians were barely considered white. In 1970 my Jewish father, a well known and reputable doctor, was unable to get admitted into a country club because he was Jewish. He also had a very hard time getting into medical school in the 1950s because there was a cap on the number of Jews who could be admitted to med school. Jews were not considered white. Period. In the 1940s when my Catholic mother was in high school, the Italians in her neighborhood had to go to a separate Catholic Church from the one she went to. She was also teased by her sister for going to the prom with a “non-white” Italian. In the 1980s, Mario Cuomo was considered too “ethnic” to get elected US President. My point is today’s “minority” is tomorrow’s “white guy.”

I hope he is right. In the meantime we must vote, knock on doors, donate if we can afford a dollar or two, make phone calls etc.

This fellow probably has it figured out. The polls are too limited to depend on.

I've watched a lot of Lichtman this election, and Couric is probably the best interview I've seen so far. She is really good at dissecting his talking points, highlighting the shortcomings without making him defensive, which often occurs when he is challenged.
