The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is one of the best films I've ever watched.

What I love about this scene is it’s the last vision Walter has. After this, he feels like he’s actually living life and so he stops imagining what he could do

I can't believe rotten tomatoes only gave this movie a 51%. I think this movie is way underrated and deserves more than 51%. This movie is so inspiring and I think it is a great movie. :)

this song is perfect for the moment when he actually did the thing instead of just imagining it.

The expression Walter's face right after he jumped into the helicopter is absolutely beautiful - almost like he's in disbelief of what he is capable of.
What beautiful, beautiful movie.

Kristen Wiig had ethereal, other-worldly appeal to me in her expressions, voice and gait in this whole sequence. I don’t care what WM was dreaming or not, this was simply a beatific piece of the movie.

I really love this scene. Not only is it the pivotal moment where Walter finds the courage to stop imagining and start living the adventures for real but also that it is this very sweet and personal fantasy of Cheryl that is his inspiration to change, and gives him the courage to act at that moment and do this. It's a fantastic moment that caught me by surprise. Great film.

This movie changed my life. I was in a downward spiral regretting so many life choices and settling for less than what I wanted. I watched this and cried. I cry every time I watch it. I'm not as brave as Walter Mitty but I've made little changes in my life to actually get some joy out of it. Maybe one day I can take the full plunge like he did.

Completely underrated film. This film shows what cinema is capable of when it's at its absolute pinnacle.

There's something so aesthetic about the song choice and the cinematography to match specific points in the song. It's like a well oiled machine, the slow buildup in the intro parallels Walter's buildup in taking charge in his life dreams, and the moment the song goes for a jump, the pacing of the scene shifts rapidly, as he jumps in the helicopter, and it's just a triumphant, fast paced scene that carries out onto the latter fast paced portion of the film. Excellent creation, one of Ben Stiller's best performances, and you can really respect him as an actor here. Kristen Wiig was a bit underused, but she her shine too. I hope this film gets the recognition it deserves at some point.

this scene introduced me to this great song and ultimately to David Bowie

Seriously, for those of us who tend to be introverts...one of the most beautifully real-life adventurous movies of all time.

This movie was underrated, I think because it was in a way about very average people occasionally doing something extraordinary. But this scene, something about Bowie's song and Walter choosing that moment to live his imagination just brings tears to my eyes. I am very like Walter and I hope one day to be as brave as he is. Of course the book was entirely different, but the sentiment of daydreaming is the same.

Edit - thanks for your comments! This scene still lifts me up and pushing my comfort zone.

walters face at 1:04 is truly beautiful, its the moment he realizes he must step out of his comfort zone and live, or spend the rest of his life wasting away.

This movie has so many subtle and wonderful moments in it, and this scene, without a doubt, is the defining moment, the turning point. Great song, great movie, thank you Ben Stiller for choosing this song, Thank You David Bowie for the song....RIP.

This movie (this scene in specific) gave me the inspiration and courage I needed to go on a journey about 2-3 months after I watched it. Ironically, it was that trip that kind of led to my own pseudo-Walter Mitty like experience.

The line "Now it's time to leave the capsule, if you dare" probably best describes the movie. What a movie
