How to Deal with Paint Spills | House Painting

Okay. Don't panic. Dave here, with another tip of the trade. Paint spills, how to handle. Do you still have your plaster tools around from doing the patches on the walls? You can scoop it up as if it was a dustpan. In fact, a dustpan will work too, but these are very convenient, very nice. Just scoop as much as you can quickly. And the rest, you have your rags. Always have rags handy, a couple of rags, anytime you're doing a paint job. Scoop up the big parts and rotate the rags. If it's a hardwood floor, lots of water, clean rags, and when you get down to the end of it, clean paper towel. If it's an oil based paint, you're going to need some paint thinner or mineral spirits.

You need to put that down, and scoop that up again, and keep cleaning it with a clean paper towel or clean rag and you'll be okay. If a big can of white paint spills on your new red carpet, I don't know what to tell you. That's going to be a tough one. But always be prepared, and you'll be fine.

This is extremely helpful. You continue to clean with water until it’s no longer doing the job, and then you switch to min spirits or paint thinner. Thank you!

I don't understand the point of the video? If the paint's spilled on paper covering then cleaning it doesn't require so many steps. If the paint's accidentally been spilled on your carpet or floor then these steps will just make a bigger mess.
Either way, I'm sticking to SpillFix as my trusty paint cleaning tool. This is just silly!
