Fiberglass and screen patch will last longer and still no welding needed. But gotta cut out All the rust and use rust mort first. All materials to do a fiberglass repair are at any O'reilys

I see a lot of comments about moisture getting trapped and making it worse. Perhaps giving it a couple treatments of rust conveter first would stop this?

Good job 👍 not a good repair.. but to each his own. If you want a tip for Bondo'ing over foam I've used fiberglass resin to stiffen the foam after cutting it, then do the bondo. The foam will never flex. ✌️ cheers from NYC

I did this on a car and it’s been years and it’s never rusted

The foam will hold moisture and make it alot worse over time, not even a year later that spot will be rusted out 5xs worse

You should get jail time for slopping this as a repair, it's just a cover up for your poor morals

I’ve done this to my Subaru many times. I never have any problems with is continuing to rust. I use an industrial rust converter solution that basically just makes it primer. I let it dry for like 3 days with a small fan on it and a dehumidifier in my garage to make sure it’s dry. The car is a pos on the outside so as far as I’m concerned I can’t do anything more to it than what has already done. If I had a brand new car would I do this? No! But because getting a new paint job for even one door would total out the car cost wise it’s the next best thing and unless you stare at it and look for imperfections it looks just fine. For a car worth only a couple k’s it’s a totally fine solution and since I live in a very rusty and snowy area I’m just gonna have to do it again

I've tried this...rust continues to rust and your patch needs another patch...repeat every 3- 6 months

That’s cool but he should spray the inside with some rust eater spray then some undercoat spray then fill with foam then fiber glass over the foam then bondo

How do I go about finding paint to match my vehicle? I have a 30th anniversary dodge caravan.

My neighbor's car had bondo cracking and his bodyshop informed him that someone filled his rocker panel with foam like this video. 😂

If you put a little paint on that bare metal before you put the foam in wouldn't that help it to stop rusting back up so fast?

Great idea. That foam is going to turn into a big sponge absorbing all of the moisture that it can rotting it out even faster.

This is the worst thing you can do to repair Don’t do it! It traps moisture and the rust keeps spreading!!!

This may not be the proper repair method. But it sure is satisfying, damnit! Next time try using ramen noodles.

Everyone please understand it doesn’t matter if it lasts a year or 2 looking somewhat ok, this is trapping moisture inside and will cause rocker too start rusting even worse down the road,

Replacing a whole rocker panel is alot easier then people think.

Had an old car found rust like this. Removed rust from what I thought was a 3 inch hole. The hole got bigger to about 15 inches LOL. found a bunch of foam like this. Couldn't save the frame rail had to get rid of the car. dealership work.
