Activist and author Bill McKibben has been fighting for progress on climate change longer than 18-year-old Jerome Foster II, who serves on the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council, has been alive. For its The Issue series, Inside Edition Digital spoke with the two activists from different generations about the missed opportunities of the past, and why meaningful action is so necessary now. #InsideEdition

As someone born as a gen z. I feel like this is the equivalent to recruiting a child to join the navy seals

Saving the planet is the wrong term to use. The planet will survive, 100%. When the dinosaurs were being wiped out, most parts of the planet became inhabitable. Time went by and nature still manage to flourish. The term should be to save the human species (us) because the climate will change into a much harsher place for us to live. If that happens, we either go extinct or we evolve.

I hate to say it, but we’re already way past the point of no return. We will never get enough people on board where we can reverse climate change. The only thing that can really be done right now is to minimize the severity.

Gen Z will never realize that complaining on Twitter will not solve their problems

It would be a miracle if we could and it may be even worse for many generations to come.

With the amount of idiots that cover the world.. we can only hope that the next generation has some golden gems that can change the world by themselves

I find it awful how the generation before us expects us to solve the issue they created.

it still blows my mind that people don’t believe in climate change when it’s basic knowledge.

Gen Z is too divided as is, and though they like to say they’re the “strongest generation”‘they’re really not and VERY weak. It’s still early and things could change as we get older, but as things stand, it’s not looking good.

Gen Z is so cringey it’s almost hard to overlook it. Coming from someone’s who’s Gen Z.

The defeatism in these comments is toxic. Don’t fault people for caring enough to want to do something about it.

My teacher told me that my generation (I’m 15 “07/25/22”) is next up in line to save the world and that his last generation did nothing and ignored the problems, like the past hundred years. And after seeing my class, I’m confident to say, we’re not gonna live very long

Did you know that coca cola produces about three million tonnes of plastic packaging a year - equivalent to 200, 000 bottles a minute?

Gen z is one of the must arrogant and ignorant generation in recent times, we can’t even work together and most choose not to and if you keep putting pressure on us instead of trying to handle it yourself it will stay that way.
