Thanks for the valuable information. Would be nice to know the orientation of the columns if the layout of the first floor is substantially different from the ground floor (e.g. Ground floor's layout is an open concept while having plenty of rooms or wall dividers in the first floor).

I have a doubt, Stub column is a column which can be provided from footing to plinth beam below the ground level right?
Then How can the stub column also be provided at first floor?

Nice one and is very useful. I am not a civil man. I have one basic question to ask. You have given the same plan for the first floor also which is correct based on columns in the ground floor. Though we should maintain the same columns, can we construct different size rooms and adopt different plan for the first floor ? Or should we need fresh columns for the different plan there ?
