Grant: The biggest carnivore the world has ever seen.
Riot: Your mother.
Me: Jokes on you my mother's an omnivore.

Mark my words riot needs to find out what a simosuchus is. It’s one of the most underrated crocodilians in paleontology

THe thing about the T-Rex eyesight. This was a change made in the movie, where Dr Grant just asserts that they can't see things that don't move. But in the book its clearly explained that the Jurassic Park T-Rex can't see movement because they used Frog DNA to fill in gaps in it's gene code, and the Frogs they got the DNA from, can only see movement. It maybe got cut for pacing reasons, but it's sort of important in explaining this plot point.

T-rex is so fucking cool. As a kid I thought it was overrated... not anymore. It may have gotten slower, but its gotten bloody amazing in every other regard. And raptors are terrifying when they're bird like. Like big fast lizards were cool, but as birds they just seem so much creepier, unnerving and uncanny. Less like a monster and more like an intelligent force of malevolence, with just a hint of monster for good measure. Somehow feathers made them spookier in my eyes. They feel more... aware, curious and crafty, and thus more deadly. Also, hawks are amazing and badass, so of course giant toothy, clawy ground hawks would be fucking sick.

5:00 It probably seems scarier because its alot chunkier so it appears larger, the lips probably help too.

Imagine showing someone in 1993 this video..
They would be like: What the hell is that? That’s a T-rex?? Why does the raptor actually look like a six foot turkey.???

Velociraptor: *OH COME on god! U couldn’t make me any taller? Oh wait what’s that sound*- *gets squished *

10:55 no surprise here, whenever 2 dinos are being discussed, the only thing many would bring up is who would win in a hypothetical fight, like he said, it's trite, aka cliche to just put them into an arena to satisfy the kiddos, don't get me wrong I love a nice dinosaur fight but there is more to that.

One thing I liked about Jurassic World (which I hear was imported from the original book the movies were based on) is that it acknowledges the dinosaurs at the park weren't made for realism. Part of it is because of the mashup between the DNA of dinosaurs and other animals, but the big factor was so they wouldn't betray the average parkgoer's perception of how "real" dinosaurs looked and behaved.

Dude the rapters were freaking terrifying damn. Although they wouldn't be making noise if they knew there was food they would sneak and the kids might not even know they are there.

They are young

I used to be against all the accurate accounts of dinos but it's grown on me so much over the years, it's so much cooler

0:39 for the most part. Michael Crichton only took one source for his velociraptor and ignored his scientific advisor. The source in question was written by someone who thought velociraptor and deinonychus were the same animal. Despite living millions of years apart, in different continents and having very different morphologies.
I’m not even going to talk about dilophosaurus.
Brachiosaurus was based on giraffatitan. And triceratops didn’t have the big frill horns in adulthood

we need time machines to figure out what dinosaurs look like.

Didn't think I could love T.Rex anymore then I already do but here we are 🦖❤️😉🤣 Actually been wanting to get an accurate T.Rex tattoo for years but without knowing for sure what they looked like and things constantly changing it's hard will probably end up just getting it's portrait from the first Jurassic Park since that's my all time favorite movie and what first got me into dinosaurs.

Great video though! Also I 100% agree with him- hate when people in the dinosaur community compare them or people do it to animals in general like they're not cool and less then if another one is bigger faster stronger etc then them 🤷🏻‍♀️ When in reality they're all amazing even all the way down to single celled organisms are amazing.

I know the paleontologist who worked on Jurassic Park III had a personal grudge against T.Rex an animal that lived and died millions of years ago he hated like they personally hurt him and wanted to "knock them down a peg" (his own words) so glad it blew up in his face. To do that to an animal wether alive or extinct is cruel.
