I might sound old here, but I think 20 minutes move time and an extra 10 seconds loading sounds perfectly fine to me to save 100 bucks. These storage expansions cost almost as much as the series s I just bought...

One major point he did not make in this video is if you buy a third party SSD it will NOT run Series X or S optimized games. That can only be done with the internal hard drive and the Seagate Microsoft expandable hard drive.

We're living in a 4-8TB digital world
Xbox: Gotcha, here's 1TB for $220
PS5: You can't even use the option, I said NO!

In a nutshell, get the expansion card if you want to play Series X or Series X Optimized games from it (you can also copy games to the internal drive). Get an external SSD for all previous gen games. You'll still get some speed benefit by running your previous gen and older games off an external SSD.

I have a Series S with the 2TB Seagate Game Drive. The complaint about the 20+ minutes data transfer does not really matter, you can still play other games in the meantime, not like last gen, where you had to sit and wait.
I use my HDD just for One/360 games, or for games that I don't play that often. The ingame loading time is the only thing that bothers me to play games direct from the HDD.

For an Xbox Series S;
Gonna go the 2TB Samsung T5 SSD. About the same price as the 1TB Xbox external.
Or if I’m on a budget, the 1TB Samsung T5 SSD for about half the price.

Only the new games made specifically for the Series X/S require the specific type of NVME. Any xbox one or 360 games can be stored on an external SSD and still work fine. My biggest request is MS to install legacy games to external and only new to internal.

I love that expansion card that Microsoft/seagate made super simple and easy to expand the storage on the X/S. I hope they make bigger version of it in the future(2tb or 3tb)

Love the expansion card!! Just wish it was a 2TB. Also have a 5TB WD HDD that’s full. They can’t make them big enough.

2:30. No smart set up. That blows so much heat from the top vent during hard core processing. I’ll put it on its side if all I had was a little cuddly space. Forget looking cool. I want my xbx running a cool and efficient as possible

right now is not the time to buy this, I don't even have my main ssd 60% full yet. I'll get a 2TB expansion card when they come out.

Um... 1:40 he claims you can use an external drive. This is a half truth. Sure you can download them on that external, but the series x version of games will only launch from the internal or that memory card at the start of the video

Velociraptor. Is that an upgraded version of the velocity architecture?

I have a 2tb segate drive, What I plan on doing and recommend to others is have every game you know has a series x upgrade on series x internal and some even if they don’t that you want to look and perform better, Every other game just put on the 2tb and if one of those happen to get a series x|s upgrade just switch it to internal and if you have no more storage go ahead and transfer the least played one to external

Yes. There are listing for larger Xbox expansion cards coming soon. If you’re thinking for a SSD, please avoid the Western Digital 500GB D30. It’s super slow! Get an Samsung T7, fast read and write speeds.

Like Whodatizz602 said you can't run a next-gen (Series X|S) game directly off any external drive, you have to move it to the internal NVME SSD. but moving entre games from internal to eternal and vice versa is MUCH faster than deleting games and redownloading from Game Pass

I think this is really meant for the X/S configured games, I noticed when I moved my game to a TB drive that I had that was for X/S that I couldnt play it and had to move it back to my Internal storage to be able to play it.

Kinda funny how we sort of went back to PS1/PS2 days with "memory cards." :P
But instead of just saves, we store full games.
The price tag is still as premium as ever, though. :P
Back in 2000, we had to pay $34 ($53 in 2021 money) for 8MB.
