The BEST Chicken Tikka Masala

Chicken Tikka Masala is one of my favourite dishes, and this recipe is the bomb! Everything is made in the same pan, so the flavour of the meat transfers into the curry making for a meaty, rich, and creamy sauce that is to die for. This is one of those recipes that I guarantee you'll make again and again for years to come :)

I hope you enjoy this video :)

RECIPE FOR GARAM MASALA

INGREDIENTS

Chicken Marinade

1 cup, Plain Yogurt
Juice of ½ Lemon
3 cloves of Garlic, finely grated
1 tbsp, Ginger, finely grated
2 tsp, Garam Masala
½ tsp, Salt
6, Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs, cut into bite size pieces

In a bowl, combine all ingredients and marinate for 1 hour.

For the Sauce

2 tbsp, Vegetable/Canola Oil
2 tbsp, Butter
2 medium Onions finely diced
3 cloves of Garlic, finely grated
1 tbsp Ginger, finely grated
1/2 tsp, Turmeric Powder
1 tsp, Ground Coriander
1 tsp, Ground Cumin
1 tsp, Garam Masala
1 tsp, Ground Red Chili Powder
2 cups, Strained Tomato Sauce
1 cup, Heavy Cream
Salt to Taste
Fresh Coriander to garnish

METHOD

In a large pot, heat oil on Medium-High. When hot, add chicken pieces, ensuring not to crowd the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes a side, until browned. Set aside.

*The Chicken doesn’t have to be cooked through at this stage

In the same pan, add butter and Onions, and cook until soft and translucent. Add Ginger and Garlic, and sautee for 30-45 seconds. Then add Turmeric, Coriander Powder, Cumin, Garam Masala. Fry until fragrant (15-20 seconds).

Add Tomato Sauce, Ground Red Chili and season with salt to taste. Simmer for 15-20 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally until Tomato Sauce thickens, and takes on a deep reddish brown colour.

Add Chicken and Heavy Cream, and cook for an additional 10 minutes until mixture is bubbling, glossy, and thick.

Garnish with fresh Coriander and serve with hot Basmati Rice, and/or Naan/Rotis.

This was amazing, I'm 13 and when I made this my brother thought he would have to lie to me about it tasting good, but he has been asking me to cook again more than once. It was delicious, 10/10

I made this for my dock mates stuck in our marina thanks to the Coronavirus...
Incredible! My first run at Indian food of any kind and everyone loved it and this will be my new comfort food after this nightmare is over. I'm going to make it again, I think and spread the love to those who missed it.
Thanks so much for the video.

I how simple this is!! No curry pastes or tikka masala powders and whatnot. Just basic spices and tomato sauce!

I just made this and it was so good. I made some homemade naan on the side along with white rice. It was perfect. I did add a little sugar and more chili powder for the heat. My entire family cleaned every bit

Randomly found this video and decided to give it a try. It was a such a hit that my husband and kids are wondering why I didn't triple it. Thank you so much for sharing this with the rest of us! My family begged that I immediately add this to our family recipe book so we always have it on hand.

I've tried many homemade chicken tikka masala, this was the best. For others, don't skip cooking the tomato based sauce until it's almost like tomato paste before adding cream. Thanks for sharing.

I made this today and it was amazing! Better than some I’ve had at restaurants for sure. Thanks for the recipe and for laying it out clearly enough for someone who was cooking Indian food for the first time to follow. :)

Made this last night. Kids loved it, wife gave it an A+. I have made a different version before, and was disappointed. This is the recipe I was looking for. It tastes just like your favorite restaurant. Thank you.

I made this tonight and am halfway through eating a this with a bowl of basmati rice! I finally found a curry recipe that tastes good and isn't overly complicated or involved to make, Thanks! Next time I will use slightly less lemon and ginger though.

I was asked to cook some traditional Indian dishes to celebrate Divani on Monday. Your video simplifies the tikka masala. Thank you I’m cooking for 250 people using this recipe as a guideline.

I gotta tell you that this is the first recipe I ever tried (about a year ago) and I don't need to look elsewhere. Seriously good stuff! 5- star review from me.
You went right to the recipe without me having to forward the video, and very well explained.

I love making this recipe, and over the years I've made it my own, sometimes I make a vegan version without butter and use coconut cream instead. add potatoes, chickpeas and cauliflower, it's delicious. Thank you so much for posting
