The history of the iPod touch

For ten years, the iPod touch has given the iOS experience without the cost and the bulk of the iPhone.

There’s an error about the 5th-generation model: it came out with the iPhone 5, not 5S and 5C. There’s another about what iPhone had the A8 CPU. Sorry about that.

1:48 Apple didn't unveil the iPod Touch 5 with the 5S and 5C in 2013, they unveiled it with the iPhone 5 in 2012.

Great video Stephen ! I had the original iPod touch. I still remember when the App Store launched and I had to pay $9.95 to update to iOS 2 after I already bought super money ball. Wasn't as familiar with things before as I am now. But this was my first iPhone in a way and its something I still have.

I bought an iPod Touch Gen 2 in the middle of the Gen 4 craze. I couldn't take pictures or run the latest apps but it was still a damn fine device and I had the edge of having the good stock YouTube app. Although I no longer use it very often, I still love my Gen 2 more than any other apple device besides the iPod Classic 5th Gen.

Small side note, there's no mention of the 2013 iPod touch which lacked an iSight camera and loop.
It only came in silver, 16GB, and cost $229.
It was an alternative to the $299 5th gen iPod touch.

I owe a lot to the iPod Touch. It was my first apple device and what got me interested in apple in the first place. I had both a first gen and a third gen one and I loved them both. I agree with you that it probably won't last very long. When it was first introduced it was a way to show iOS to people that didn't want/ couldn't buy an iPhone. Now I'm not sure that is necessary any more, iOS is much more well known and if you are lucky you can get an old iPhone for roughly the same price. I know of people that use one as their music player because they don't want to use their phone for battery reasons Burt other that that I'm not sure what could be it's use.

Great video! It's such a shame to think that this too could be a thing of the past, remember being so excited when the 4in ipod was released back in 2012. Hopefully Apple keeps it for a little longer. I feel like for many people this was their first introduction to ios

Man, ive used the Touch Gen1 until 2015, this thing was unbreakable. The only reson I don't use it anymore is because I needed more storage space for my music

I remember having the 4th gen as my first “phone”. Although i was always jealous of my friends 5th gen because the screen was so big.
