I was 3, 000 miles away the night my dad died. I got a phone call from my family telling me he wouldn't make the night. I had my sister put the phone to his ear. I told him I loved him, that I was flying hone to see him, that he didn't have to wait for me, and that it was ok to let go. I then told my sister to handle things there, that I was going to book a plane ticket, and that I'd call back when I was done. She called me back less than five minutes later to tell me he was gone.
