I can respect the fact he did not want to go into specific details. Shows a level of maturity and respect for life. Thank you for your service.

This guy does not want to talk about this story

This is proof to me, just a dude, that these gents, special operators, are not robotic killing machines. They are, in fact intelligent, contemplative, & logical workers; it just happens that their work is violence. Thanks, Men! God bless!

I'm former military. Combat vet as a scout. I turned it off a long time ago, in my early 20s, and built a career after, that will carry me into my old age... This guy did this stuff so long and perfected it to a degree that his expertise is something that he will most likely never use again... It's really sad and bad-ass at the same time. He has to try to move on in his 'middle' age without continuing to do the thing that he's best at and has built his life on. I hope he is able to move on and stay healthy.

To realize you just sliced a dude to the afterlife is a heavy thought.

Life is only 2 inches deep, 3 pounds of pressure, and 4 minutes of no air.

Thank you for doing these interviews. Its proof that operators are not savage murderes who love killing, like some ignorant people claim. Soldiers are high intelligent, articulate, responsible humans with respect for life. Thank you to all Armed Forces for defending us all. Being Canadian i have a huge respect for US forces who are deeply patriotic. The world needs more of this.

It’s unfathomable how fast these dudes make critical decisions.

I'm a huge fan of knife arts and the Filipino Martial Arts and their use of blades, so hearing this vet talk blade combat was awesome. Thank you and thanks Mr.Ryan for another great show.

This is the type of dude you can trust with your life. This is also the dude you don't want as your enemy

This topic makes me wonder what the conversations were like in the days before firearms, when wars were fought on the field with swords and hammers. Could you imagine being a fly on the wall listening to folks who's whole life was built around blade work? Wild.

Shawn please ask more “hand to hand” questions when you interview warfighers cuz that is a niche in combat that no one discusses. The information from it is vital for training for the real world.

3:33 and everyone was touching that nerve button. 😂

I have never heard “timers” and “switches” before but that is a perfect description of deciding cut placement. For switches I was taught “destruct” or stab. For slashes I was taught using a “clock” for line of travel. Then you combine the 2 for stab/slash. Timers and switches is a much more efficient description.

Hand to hand combat is next level warrior. My grandpa was a Marine in Korea and used his bayonet on multiple kills. We all thought he died an old happy quiet man, but when my parents went through his stuff, all they kept finding was prepper supplies and weapons upon weapons hidden throughout the house. #mindset

“I just put my blade to work” has gotta be the coolest thing I’ve heard all day 🤣😂😂 what a badass

I’ve given the pause and look that he gives SR at 4:15-17; it’s the “I was being nice, but you’re pushing and I said no so fall back on this” look.
