Why Lex Luthor Is The Ultimate Villain

The world of movies, comics, and TV are full of villains. We live in an era where villains are gaining more depth and complexity than ever before. But there's still room for the kind of villain who is just totally, unambitiously evil. And of the many villains that populate the cultural zeitgeist, few are as unapologetic as Lex Luthor.

He's been Superman's arch nemesis for nearly 80 years. No matter who comes along or what he faces, Lex has been the Man of Steel's greatest rival.

But what makes Lex such a great villain? That's what I explore in this video. Enjoy!

Awesome video for an awesome villain! Lex is one of my favorite villains in all of fiction, not just comics. He's Superman's polar opposite. Whereas Superman is a god who sees himself as a human, Lex is a human who sees himself as a god. Superman wants to keep his humanity, whereas Lex wants to lose his. What's scary about Lex is that people like him actually exist in real life. People either in politics, business or religion who see themselves as above everyone else, who believes they deserve better than everyone else and have no qualms about harming others if it benefits them.

Great work and here's hoping you make more theological videos about both villains and heroes.

You need to make a series of this sort, why is ... a great villain or a great hero. This really made Lex human and for everyone to understand his motivations as I always thought of him as the most interesting villain, even more so than the joker. He's man fighting a literal God because he cannot accept the fact that his abilities are overshadowed and limited by superman just existing, that's unfair to him, and everything he stands for.
