Once your mead has aged you may have more than you expected for a short time. If waiting is not of interest to you than here is a quick video with one of the uses that last years supply of mead has been put to. Oaking adds flavor and is customized to your taste.

This is a use for the previously made oak extract. This is not necessarily the best use of the oak extract.. It can be an interesting application if you have used a more complex recipe than traditionalist/ puritanical mead.

This is not the most creative or interesting treatment. it is a means for you to figure out some of the quirks in your brewing. Too sweet, sour, oakey, charred and more. By shifting the balance you can figure what your can modify in future with countering/ balancing these in mind.
