I interned at Google during college and what he said is very true. My first interview I solved the problem, but the second interview I needed help from the interviewer to solve the problem. I was very vocal in explaining my thought process while I was solving the problem & he gave me a hint that allowed me to see the angle differently and solve it. Part of the interview is how technically you can solve it, but like he said they are also watching your approach and methodology to problem solving as well. Being very vocal about your thought process can be helpful in displaying that during the interview
