So do the chef knives and the paring knife have 30° bevels? That doesn't sound right.

Are they a bit overpriced? Yes. I see that extra price way to cover the warranty replacement and free sharpening. I’ve use this many times with my knives as have my parents and grandparents. I have several CUTCO knives, and I love them. Yes, I also have a couple very nice, hand forged Japanese knives, but most the time I actually use my CUTCO.

Such solid knifes and products.

I’m riding a chef in white right now.
I’m a cook at a steakhouse and it’s finally my time to order up my knife. I’m pumped❕

My wife and I just bought six more CutCo knives at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg, PA. We have had many CutCo knives for almost thirty years and they have held up amazingly well. I am a knife fiend and collect all kinds of high end hunting knives based on their steel type etc. CutCo makes a high quality USA made product. They are expensive, but you will probably not have to replace them in your lifetime. Because I am a knife guy, I have my own sets of whetstones and keep our knives scary sharp. The CutCos hold their edge surprisingly well.

They're good knives and our three most used are the petite chef, the craver, and the cheese knife. We also use the spreader and the steak knives. Twenty years with one sharpening

It needs to be constantly re-sharpen. Mine has a chip on it. They aren't that durable.

I'm upset that these knives are priced so high! I would be perfectly fine with the price if the quality was there. Keep in mind, these knives are in the same price range as Wüsthof and Henckels knives. This company has great marketing which has brought it great success, but it would be something truly amazing if they had a product to back it up.

A steady hand a sharp eye won't "guarantee" a proper angled edge. An angle guide must be used.

This doesn't seem right. I've always heard that Cutco knives are laser-sharpened, not sharpened by hand or with a grinder. When I've looked at my cutco knives under the microscope, the edge has like micro-serration, which is exactly what I'd expect from laser sharpening. When I sharpen my knives by hand, with a series of sharpening stones, then it's incredibly smooth under a microscope and looks nothing like the edge when it's fresh from the factory.

Yeah I didn't see anything that make your knives worth the insane prices you put them at. Its not even a full tang, just some shitty mass produced stamped steel. Glad I changed my mind about buying some.

You know. I am and am not surprised by all the flack it seems Cutco is getting here. I get most folks are used to chinese quality and pricing, but...I've had random cutco knives around for almost 25 years that we've never sent in for sharpening. I'm still upset that I'm guessing someone in my house misused my kitchen shears and then threw them away! I've only chipped a cutco knife by misusing it. such as hacking down a bunch of small trees. Even at that the knife has been still very much useable 12 years after that.
I will although say - the price has thwarted me from buying a new set of Cutco shears. Not that I can't afford it, I was kind of hoping he who may or may not have thrown it away would've gotten me another one as a gift. He has bought me 3 or 4 other kitchen shears since then....but none of them are cutco :(.
It's not for everyone. There are more economical sets out there that work or last well enough. For me it's like my shoes/boots for work. $50 will last me 3 months. $100 will last me under 12 months. $300 made in USA - I'm at year 3 and they aren't showing any signs of major or minor wear yet.
